A turisták a perui Andokban található úgynevezett Hétszínű-Hegyről tartottak hazafelé, amely egy népszerű turisztikai célpont.
A busz utasai több országból, köztük Spanyolországból, Brazíliából, Chiléből, Lengyelországból és a Csehországból voltak.
A jelentések szerint egy 32 éves ember a busz alá szorult és meghalt, miután a jármű letért az útról és felborult.
A baleset következtében a busz súlyosan megrongálódott. A sérülteket hordágyon szállították el, akik közül néhányan csonttöréseket szenvedtek.
A legsúlyosabb sérülteket Cusco város kórházába szállították, a többieket a közeli egészségügyi központokban kezelik.
Információk szerint a buszsofőr koncentrációzavar miatt elvesztette az irányítást a jármű felett.
