A hongkongi hatóságok a nemzetbiztonsági törvény megsértésének gyanújával őrizetbe vették az Apple Daily hongkongi lap vezércikkíróját szerdán – számolt be internetes kiadásában a South China Morning Post (SCMP) című hongkongi lap.
Az 55 éves Yeung Ching-keet, akinek írásai Li Ping név alatt jelentek meg a lapban, külföldi erőkkel való összejátszás gyanújával állították elő helyi idő szerint kora hajnalban.
A SCMP szerint Yeung 2016-tól kezdve mintegy 800 cikket és kommentárt írt a lapnak. Legutóbbi írása kedden jelent meg.
A hatóságok közlése szerint további előállítások is lehetnek.
A hongkongi rendőrség nemzetbiztonságért felelős egysége a múlt csütörtökön nagyszabású, meglepetésszerű razziában a lap öt vezető munkatársát vette őrizetbe az Apple Daily nyomtatott, illetve internetes kiadásban is megjelent cikkek tartalmára hivatkozva. Az írások egyebek mellett Hongkonggal és a kínai anyaországgal szembeni külföldi szankciókat szorgalmaztak, ami a rendőrség szerint bizonyíték arra, hogy a lap vezetősége külföldi erőkkel szőtt összeesküvést. Ugyanaznap a hatóságok a laphoz kötődő három cég tizennyolcmillió hongkongi dolláros (680 millió forintnyi) vagyonát is zárolták, valamint házkutatást végeztek az őrizetbe vettek otthonaiban és a lap székházában. A székház átkutatásában több mint kétszáz rendőr vett részt, több mint hat órán át kutattak az irodákban, és több mint negyven digitális eszközt – a többi között számítógépeket és merevlemezeket – foglaltak le. A főszerkesztő és a lapkiadó ellen múlt pénteken vádat emeltek külföldi erőkkel történő összejátszás miatt.
Az Apple Dailyt működtető Next Digital hétfőn közölte: amennyiben a hatóságok nem szabadítják fel a lap vagyonát, arra kényszerülhetnek, hogy szombaton adják ki az utolsó lapszámot, mert nem tudják kifizetni a munkatársaik bérét. A lap angol nyelvű hírszolgáltatója, valamint pénzügyi hírekkel foglalkozó weboldala kedden felfüggesztette működését, a naponta jelentkező hírműsorát pedig hétfő este sugározták utoljára. Az Apple Daily munkatársainak közel fele adta már be keddig a felmondását. A szintén a Next Digital által fenntartott Next Magazine kiadója pedig órákkal Yeung őrizetbe vétele előtt jelentette be, hogy a híroldal megszűnik.
Tavaly augusztusban a rendőrség már őrizetbe vette Jimmy Lait, az Apple Daily alapítóját, valamint a laphoz kötődő, kilenc másik ember – köztük Lai fia – is rács mögé került a nemzetbiztonsági törvény megsértése, valamint csalás gyanújával. Lai jelenleg börtönbüntetését tölti.

Őrizetbe vette csütörtökön a város nemzetbiztonsági rendészete több tucat, a nyomtatott, illetve internetes kiadásban is megjelent cikk tartalmára, a hongkongi Apple Daily lap több munkatársát, köztük a főszerkesztőt is – számolt be a South China Morning Post (SCMP) című hongkongi lap.
A hatóságok által kifogásolt írások egyebek mellett Hongkonggal és a kínai anyaországgal szembeni külföldi szankciókat szorgalmaztak, ami a rendőrség szerint bizonyíték arra, hogy a lap vezetősége külföldi erőkkel folytatott összeesküvést. A főszerkesztő, a lapkiadó és további három vezető munkatárs előállítása mellett a laphoz kötődő három cég 18 millió hongkongi dollárt (680 millió forint) kitevő vagyonát is befagyasztották. Az őrizetbe vettek otthonaiban házkutatást tartottak. A kora reggeli akció keretében több mint kétszáz – a CNN információi szerint ötszáz – rendőr végzett házkutatást az Apple Daily székházában.
A razzia után az Apple Daily székházát bűnügyi helyszínnek nyilvánították, a hatóságok lefoglalták az elektronikus eszközöket, mobiltelefonokat, számítógépeket és laptopokat.
John Lee hongkongi biztonsági miniszter arra figyelmeztette az újságírókat, hogy tartsák magukat távol az Apple Daily által tanúsított magatartástól. Leszögezte: a hongkongi kormányzat a legszigorúbb intézkedésekkel fog szembeszállni bármilyen személlyel vagy vállalattal, ha újságírói munka mögé bújva próbálja fenyegetni a nemzetbiztonságot.

A vádak szerint Lai „külföldi országgal játszott össze, lázító szavakat használt, és megtévesztő célú összeesküvésben vett részt”.
