A helyszínre kiérkezett az operatív csoport, akik megállapították, hogy kijevi idő szerint 22 órakor egy vendég érkezett az étterembe. A férfi egy ideig adekvátan viselkedett, majd egy pillanatban vitázni kezdett az intézmény tulajdonosával. A konfliktus a parkolóban folytatódott tovább, ebben a pillanatban vette elő pisztolyát a vendég és leadott egy lövést. Ezt követően beült Audi típusú járművébe és elhagyta a helyszínt.
A hatóságok rövid időn belül a nyomára bukkantak, Munkácson állították elő a 40 éves férfit, s lefoglalták nála az említett fegyvert is, ami az előzetes információk szerint egy startpisztoly volt.
A rendőrség büntetőeljárást indított az ügyben, a férfire akár 7 év börtönbüntetés is várhat.
