Cápatámadásban vesztette életét egy svájci turista, egy másik pedig súlyos sérülést szenvedett egy szörfözők által közkedvelt strandon Kelet-Ausztrália tengerpartján.
A helyi rendőrség közleménye szerint a Port Macquarie város közelében levő Crowdy Bay nemzeti park területéről riasztották a mentőket csütörtökön kora reggel, miután egy cápa megharapott két embert. A tájékoztatás alapján egy huszonéves nő a helyszínen meghalt, egy hasonló korú férfit válságos állapotban vittek kórházba. A rendőrség szerint az áldozatok ismerték egymást.
A helyi mentőszolgálat vezetője elmondta, hogy egy szemtanú a helyszínen azonnali segítségnyújtásba részesítette a sérült férfit a mentők megérkezéséig, amivel feltehetően megmentette az életét. A strandot a történtek után lezárták, a hatóságok pedig igyekeznek megállapítani, melyik cápafaj támadhatott. A vízben csapdákat is elhelyeztek, hogy elfogják az állatot – írja az MTI.
Ausztráliában legutóbb két hónapja történt halálos kimenetelű cápatámadás, akkor egy szörfös vesztette életét Sydney közelében.

Egy tinédzser fiút súlyosan megsebesített egy cápa vasárnap délután az ausztráliai Új-Dél-Wales állam északi partján található Cabarita Beach strandon. A fiatal fiút helikopterrel szállították el a helyszínről.
A mentőszolgálatokat vasárnap délután riasztották a támadás helyszínére. Az Új-Dél-Wales-i Mentőszolgálat közlése szerint a tinédzsert megharapta a cápa a karján.
A The Sun információi szerint a sérült fiút mentőhelikopter szállította a Gold Coast Egyetemi Kórházba, ahol stabilizálták az állapotát. Egyelőre nem tudni, milyen fajta cápa támadta meg a fiút.
A támadás mindössze néhány hónappal azután történt, hogy egy 17 éves lány, Charlize Zmuda életét vesztette cápatámadásban Brisbane északi részén található Bribie Island-nél. Charlize halálosan megsebesült, amikor a veszélyes ragadozó megtámadta: a felső testén szerzett életveszélyes sérülések miatt este 5 óra után meghalt a kórházban, annak ellenére, hogy a mentők mindent megtettek érte.

Megpróbált közelebb menni az állathoz, hogy fotót készítsen róla, a cápa ekkor támadt rá. Férje azonnal a segítségére sietett, szemtanúk szerint megpróbálta megakadályozni a további támadásokat.

Egy tizenéves fiút cápa támadott meg az Egyesült Államokban egy strandon, miközben barátjával úszott. A cápa a fiú lábát harapta meg, de sikerült kijutnia a partra, ahol a strandolók és a mentők ellátták sérüléseit. Kórházba szállították, és várhatóan felépül.
Cápatámadásban sérült meg súlyosan egy 14 éves fiú a nyugat-virginiai North Topsail strandon vasárnap.
A tinédzser egy barátjával úszott, amikor valami megtámadta, és a víz alá húzta.

Három fürdőző is cápatámadásban sebesült meg Florida partjainál, Walton megyében. A helyi hatóságok közlése szerint mindkét incidens néhány napja történt: egy 45 éves nő péntek délután sérült meg, sajnálatos mód a karja egy részét amputálni kellett.
Mindemellett a csípőjén is súlyos sérüléseket szerzett, a támadást követően mentőhelikopterrel azonnal kórházba szállították. A másik incidens kevesebb mint két órával később, egy négy mérföldre lévő strandon történt.
Ott két tinédzserre támadt rá a cápa a derékig érő vízben. Úgy tudni, az egyik lány súlyos sérülést szenvedett a lábán és a kezén, a másik a lábfején szerzett kisebb sérüléseket – derül ki a Sky News és a BBC beszámolóiból.
Mint írják, a hatóságok csónakokkal járőröznek a partszakaszon, emellett úgy határoztak, hogy néhány strandot ideiglenesen lezárnak. Szombaton viszont újra megnyitották őket, ugyanakkor vörös és lila zászlókkal figyelmeztetik a fürdőzőket a cápákra, kiemelve, hogy legyenek óvatosak.
Korábban azt is megírtuk, hogy január közepén cápatámadásban sebesült meg egy tízéves kisfiú a Bahamákon. A gyerek állítólag egy cápa-búvárexpedíción vett részt az egyik üdülőhelyen, s az incidens után kórházba szállították, a lábán szenvedett könnyebb sérüléseket.

A 22 éves Victor Alejandro Soto Garcia fésűkagylót keresett, de amikor lemerült a víz alá, egy nagy fehér cápával találta szemben magát. A közel négyméteres állat megtámadta, és leharapta Garcia lábát. Az eszméletlen férfit társai húzták a partra, de az életét már nem tudták megmenteni.
