 Tűz ütött ki vasárnap egy tájfunok miatt kiépített menedékhelyen Hongkongban, legkevesebb 30 hajó kapott lángra, amelyek közül 10 elsüllyedt.
 Helyi idő szerint éjjel fél 3-kor ütött ki tűz az Aberdeen South nevű, elsősorban tájfunok ellen épített menedékhelyen és legalább hat órába tellett, mire sikerült a tüzet eloltani – számolt be róla a Washington Post.
 A tűzeset idejében összesen 35-en tartózkodtak a különböző hajókon, közülük mindenkit sikerült kimentenie a tűzoltóknak. Jelenleg rendelkezésre álló adatok szerint személyi sérülés nem történt, egy ember azonban nem érezte jól magát, ezért őt elővigyázatosságból kórházba szállították.
 A tűzoltók közleménye szerint legalább 11 vízi és 8 légi tűzoltógépet kellett bevetni a tűz legyőzése érdekében, amely végül helyi idő szerint reggelre sikerült is. Azt azonban továbbra sem tudni, mi okozhatta pontosan a tüzet.
   
 A South China Morning Post pedig úgy tudja, hogy a füst a környező lakóházakat is érintette, a helyiek panaszkodtak is a fojtogató tűzre. A hongkongi napilapnak nyilatkozó tűzoltó szerint a tűz először egy jachton ütött ki és a szél miatt gyorsan átterjedt a többi hajóra is.
