Az Armenia városában található Humboldt Egyetem 22 hallgatóját, két oktatóját és egy kommunikációs munkatársát szállító busz egy híd korlátjának ütközött, miután a sofőr elvesztette uralmát a jármű felett – mondta el a sajtónak Luis Fernando Atuesta rendőrparancsnok. Palesztinpárti aktivisták újabb egyetem, a Fordham területén kezdtek tüntetést New Yorkban szerdán, miután a hatóságok előző éjszaka felszámolták a Columbia Egyetemen kialakított törvénytelen sátortábort.
A Fordham Egyetem néhány utcányira fekszik a Columbia épületeitől.
A tiltakozást a Diákok az Igazságért Palesztinában nevű országos aktivistaszervezet helyi csoportja vezeti. A Fordham Egyetem területén úgynevezett „Gáza Szolidaritási Tábort” létesítettek, ahol egy „Diák intifáda” feliratú transzparenst feszítettek ki.
Közleményük szerint azt követelik a felsőoktatási intézmény vezetőségétől, hogy „hagyjon fel annak a retorikának a támogatásával, amely fenntartja a cionizmust az egyetemen”. Emellett követelik a kapcsolatok megszüntetését minden izraeli érdekeltséggel, ideértve a jeruzsálemi Héber Egyetemet.
A Fordham vezetése felszólította a tüntetőket, hogy számolják fel a szabályellenesen létrehozott táborukat, valamint a rendbontásban részt vevő diákok hallgatói jogviszonyát felfüggesztette.
Kedden késő este a rendőrség ürítette ki a Columbia Egyetem egyik főépületét, a Hamilton Hallt, amelyet a tiltakozók erőszakkal foglaltak el. Az intézkedés során mintegy 230 embert vettek őrizetbe. Szerdán a Columbia Egyetem területén már nem volt tüntetés, de az intézmény bejáratánál ismét demonstráció kezdődött.
Szerdán a Nevadai Egyetem Las Vegas-i területén is megjelentek az Izrael ellen tüntetők.
Közben egy másik intézmény, a Rhode Island állambeli Brown Egyetem közölte: megállapodott a tüntetőkkel arról, hogy felszámolják az intézmény területén kialakított sátortábort, cserébe az egyetem vezetése ősszel szavazást tart az Izraellel fenntartott kapcsolatok megszakításáról.
Los Angelesben a Kaliforniai Egyetemen szerdán tanítási szünetet rendeltek el, miután éjszaka összeverekedtek a palesztinpárti tüntetők és az Izraelt támogató csoportok. A szembenállás azt követően vált erőszakossá, hogy az Izraellel szolidaritást vállaló csoport tagjai megpróbálták elbontani a palesztinpártiak tiltakozótáborát. A zavargás nyomán többeket őrizetbe vettek.
