Joe Biden amerikai elnök rendkívüli állapotot hirdetett Texas államban. Az utak sok helyen jegesek, az embereket ezért arra kérik, hogy lehetőleg ne utazzanak sehova. Houstonban vasárnap egy nap alatt közel 120 közúti balesetet jelentettek. Louisianában kijárási tilalmat vezettek be, hogy az embereket távol tartsák a jeges utaktól.

Utóbbira főleg a kanadai határ mentén élők számíthatnak az előrejelzés szerint. A 130 autó ütközésével járó texasi tömegbaleset szintén ennek a hideghullámnak a számlájára írható. Az előrejelzések szerint az extrém hideg a hét első napjaiban is folytatódik, hóviharok is várhatóak.
