Több mint 150 ember sebesült meg India déli részén egy templomban zajló vallási fesztiválon, mikor óriási robbanás történt egy közeli tűzijátékraktárban – közölték kedden a helyi hatóságok az MTI szemléje szerint.

A robbanás hétfő este történt Kerala állam székvárosától mintegy 600 kilométerre északnyugatra, az ország nyugati partvidékén lévő Kasaragod egyik temploma mellett, mikor a tűzijátékraktárban tűz keletkezett – számolt be róla a Press Trust of India a rendőrségi jelentések alapján.
A sérülteket Kasaragod, Kannúr és Mangaluru kórházaiba szállították. Közülük nyolcan súlyos sérüléseket szenvedtek.
Indiában nagy a kereslet a tűzijátékokra, mert a vallási ünnepeken és esküvőkön gyakran használnak petárdákat. Szinte minden évben előfordulnak végzetes balesetek, mivel a tűzijátékokat készítő üzemekben sok esetben nem tartják be a biztonsági szabályokat.
Tavaly júliusban egy thaiföldi tűzijátékgyárban történt robbanás nyolc ember halálát okozta.
