A nyugat-afrikai Guinea egyik másodosztályú csapata, az Etoile de Guinee szenvedett tragikus buszbalesetet.
A csapat a bajnoki szezon nyitó fordulójában utazott a fővárosból, Conakryból az ország keleti felében, több mint 600 kilométer távolságra lévő Kankanba, amikor a baleset történt. A körülmények egyelőre tisztázatlanok, de az biztos, hogy a buszon utazók közül legalább nyolcan meghaltak, és további 17-en sérültek meg, őket Conakryba szállították kórházba.
Másfél hónapon belül ez már a második olyan súlyos buszbaleset Guineában, amelyikben focicsapat az áldozat: január 30-án éjszaka az élvonalbeli Wakriya AC busza ütközött össze egy teherautóval, akkor három halálos áldozat volt.
