A Kongói Demokratikus Köztársaság középső részén, a Fimi folyón kedden felborult egy hajó. A helyi hatóságok tájékoztatása szerint a balesetben legalább 25-en életüket vesztették, és több tucat utas után továbbra is kutatnak.
Archív felvétel A kis hajó túlterhelt volt, a szerencsétlenséget is ez okozta – közölte David Kalemba, a térség folyami hajózásért felelős tisztviselője. A fedélzeten több mint százan tartózkodtak, és jelentős mennyiségű árut is szállított. A baleset Inongo városnál következett be, Kinshasától északkeletre. A halálos áldozatok között több gyermek is van.
A térségben – ahol kiemelt jelentősége van a folyami hajózásnak – ez már a negyedik hasonló tragédia volt idén. Májusban 20-an, októberben 78-an haltak meg hajóbalesetben az országban.

Legalább húsz ember eltűnt a tengerben, miután egy Líbiából indult és Olaszországba tartó migránscsónak a vízbe fordult, hét túlélőt Lampedusa szigetére szállítottak – közölte az olasz parti őrség szerdán.
A túlélők beszámolója szerint közel harmincan voltak a csoportban. Szeptember elsején keltek útra Líbiából. A csónak olasz vizeken borult fel. Az eltűntek között három kisgyerek is van.
A túlélőkre az olasz parti őrség talált rá: elmondásuk szerint három napon át kapaszkodtak a csónakba, mentésre várva. A hét túlélőt Lampedusa táborában helyezték el, mindannyian szíriai állampolgárok.
A lampedusai migránsközpontot tavaly június elseje óta az olasz vöröskereszt működteti. A szervezet szerdán közölt adatai szerint augusztusban százötvenhárom csónakkal, hajóval több mint ötezer-ötszázan érkeztek a szigetre. Tavaly augusztusban közel húszezer volt az érkezők száma. Tavaly június elsejétől majdnem 2600 vízi járművel több mint 108 ezer migráns kötött ki a hatezer lakosú délolasz szigeten.

Elsüllyedt egy utasokat szállító hajó a Mianmar északi részén levő Csindvin folyón, a balesetben tizenkét ember eltűnt – közölte a mianmari junta szerda éjjel.
A hatóságok közleménye szerint a hajó legénységének három tagját, hat civil utast és a biztonsági erők három tagját tartják számon eltűntként.
Bár a hivatalos közlés eltűntekről szólt, a BBC mianmari szolgálata helyi forrásokra hivatkozva azt jelentette, hogy tizenkét holttestet meg is találtak.
A hajón mintegy száz ember utazott, amikor kedden örvénybe került és elsüllyedt Mingin városnál.
A Csindvin folyón 2016-ban 73 ember, többségében diákok és tanáraik fulladtak vízbe egy súlyos hajóbalesetben.
