A mentőcsapatok a mai napig hozzák fel az áldoztok holttesteit a Lisztvjaznaja bányából, ahol az utóbbi évtizedek egyik legsúlyosabb orosz bányabalesete történt.
Putyin szerint a bánya vezetése rendszeres lépéseket tett azért, hogy a metángáz kiugró szintjét elleplezze a bányában és a szenzorok eredményeit is meghamisították.
A bánya a helyi üzletember Mikhail Fedjaev és üzleti partneri által kontrollált SDS-Ugol tulajdonában van, akik egy múlt szombati közlemény szerint az áldozatok családjának fizetni fognak és hiteleiket is rendezik.
Fedjaev televíziós megjelenésében azt mondta, hogy vállalja a felelősséget, bár az áldozatokat visszahozni lehetetlen, miután Putyin megkérdezte, hogy az igazgatótanács követi-e mi történik a biztonság terén a bányákban, vagy csak a pénzt számolja.
Az üzletember szerint három részes gáz kontroll rendszer volt üzemben mozgatható gázelemző készülékekkel, ám az emberi tényező miatt ezek nem működtek megfelelően.
Putyin szerint a vizsgálóbizottság és az ügyészség nyomoz majd az ügyben. Mindenesetre a bánya három menedzserét és két biztonsági felügyelőt bűnös gondatlanság vádjával már őrizetbe vettek a múlt héten.
A Kemerovo régióban nem ez az első és valószínűleg nem is az utolsó bányabaleset, 2010-ben egy robbanás 91 ember életét követelte.
