Legkevesebb hatan meghaltak és többen megsérültek szerdán késő este egy hindu templomnál történt tömegverekedésben, az India déli részén fekvő Ándhra Prades államban – írja az MTI.
A hatóságok egy iskolánál pultokat állítottak fel, hogy ingyenes látogatásra jogosító kuponokat osszanak szét a Srí Venkatesvara Svami templomba, népszerű nevén Tirupatiba.
A kuponokért már szerdától sorban álló több ezer hívő között először lökdösődés alakult ki, ez vezetett tömegverekedéshez.
„Fájdalommal tölt el az Ándhra Prades állambeli Triupatinál történt tömegverekedés. Együttérzésem azoknak, akik közeli, kedves hozzátartozóikat vesztették el” – írta az X-en Narendra Modi indiai kormányfő.
A BBC cikke szerint közben a templom már bocsánatot kért a történtekért, azt ígérték, hogy a hatóságok szigorúan fel fognak lépni azokkal az alkalmazottakkal szemben, akik felelősek lehetnek a tragédiáért.
A Tirupati templom a hinduizmus egyik legszentebb szentélye. Évente közel 24 millió hívőt vonz Indiából és külföldről.

Egy hindu templomot támadtak meg feldühödött muszlim szélsőségesek a közép-pakisztáni Pandzsábban, tiltakozva az ellen, hogy a bíróság szabadon engedett egy istenkáromlással megvádolt nyolcéves kisfiút – közölték helyi tisztségviselők csütörtökön.
A többtucatnyi szélsőséges szerdán vasrudakkal felfegyverkezve rontott be Rahím Jár Hán városának hindu templomába, ahol összetörte a szentély ablakait és ajtajait.
A mintegy 70-80 ember haragját az a bírósági döntés váltotta ki, amellyel óvadék ellenében szabadlábra helyeztek egy istenkáromlással vádolt nyolcéves hindu kisfiút.
Aszad Szarfaraz, a város rendőrfőnöke azt közölte, a fiú túl fiatal ehhez a vádhoz, amely egyébként – ha bebizonyosodik – az ország törvényei értelmében halálos ítélettel büntetendő.
Rahím Jár Hán hatóságai a hadsereg segítségét kérték a helyi hindu közösség védelméhez.
Az ázsiai országban – ahol a lakosság több mint 95 százaléka muszlim vallású – nem először éri támadás kisebbségek vallási helyeit.
A héten korábban feldühödött tömeg támadt az ahmadíjja irányzat mecsetére.Az ahmadíjja tanításokat követők muszlimoknak vallják magukat, ám a pakisztáni alkotmány értelmében nem számítanak az iszlám közösség tagjainak.
Az elmúlt években több hindu templom ellen is támadásokat követtek el, egyiket pedig, az ország északnyugati részén tavaly porig égették.
Pakisztán tavaly felkerült az Egyesült Államok külügyminisztériuma által összeállított, a vallásszabadságot megsértő országokat tartalmazó listára, nemzetközi jogvédő szervezetek pedig többször adtak hangot aggodalmaiknak az ország nem-muszlim vallási közösségeit illetően.
E közösségek tagjait sok esetben kényszerítik arra, hogy áttérjenek az iszlámra, a lányokat pedig erőszakkal adják férjhez muszlimokhoz.

A Dzsamiat Ulema-i-Iszlam (JUI-F) pakisztáni konzervatív iszlamista párt vezette tömeg gyújtott fel és rombolt le szerdán egy hindu templomot Északnyugat-Pakisztánban – közölte egy magas rangú helyi rendőrségi tisztségviselő. A Hiber Pakhtunkva tartomány Karak nevű településén történt incidenst jogvédők és Shirín Mazari, pakisztáni emberi jogi miniszter is elítélte. A tárcavezető a Twitteren sürgette a bűnüldözési hatóságokat az elkövetők felelősségre vonására.
Irfanullah Hán, körzeti rendőrfőnök időközben közölte, hogy kilenc gyanúsítottat előállítottak a történtekkel kapcsolatban.
Szemtanúk beszámolói szerint a csőcselék a Dzsamiat Ulema-i-Iszlam párt helyi vezetőivel az élén azt követően támadta meg az 1900-as évek elején épített templomot, hogy a helyi hindu közösség engedélyt kapott az imaház felújítására a hatóságoktól. A békésnek indult tüntetés az imámok provokatív szónoklatai nyomán csapott át erőszakba.
A történteket megelőzően néhány héttel a kormány a vallási vezetők tanácsa jóváhagyásával engedélyezte egy új hindu templom megépítését Iszlámábádban. A muszlim többség és a hindu kisebbség általánosságban békésen él egymás mellett Pakisztánban, az utóbbi években azonban előfordultak hasonló erőszakos incidensek.
A pakisztáni hindu kisebbség nagy része Indiába vándorolt ki, miután az egykori brit gyarmatot felosztották 1947-ben.
