Hét ember meghalt, 35 pedig megsebesült, miután tömegverekedés tört ki vasárnap este egy hindu templomban tartott fesztiválon a kelet-indiai Bihar államban – jelentette hétfőn az NDTV indiai televíziós csatorna.
Hét hívő, köztük három nő halt meg vasárnap este a bihari Jehanabad körzetben egy templomban történt tömegverekedésben, amely állítólag azután tört ki, hogy erőszakot alkalmaztak a hatóságok a tömeg megfékezésére – írja az NDTV.
Baba Sidheshwar Nath templomban történt tömegverekedésben legalább 35-en megsérültek.
Diwakar Kumar Vishwakarma, Jehanabad városfelügyelője is megerősítette, hogy hét holttest érkezett a jehanabadi boncterembe – írja a Jan-Manthan.
A bhakták a templomnál gyűltek össze a szentelési eseményre, amelyet minden évben a szent Shravan hónapban tartanak.
A templomnál jelenlévők azt mondták, hogy az adminisztráció intézkedési hiányosságai miatt óriási volt a tömeg. Hozzátették, a virágárusok között tört ki verekedés, ezután a hatóságok „lathit” (bambuszból készült szúrós fegyver) vetettek be, hogy véget vessenek az incidensnek, amely miatt azonban tömegverekedés alakult ki – mondta az egyik áldozat hozzátartozója a riportereknek.
A hívők a hatóságok és az adminisztráció hanyag eljárását okolta a történtekért – számolt be a Daily Sun.
