Robbanás történt egy ipari létesítményben Szentpéterváron, az Arzenal üzem gépgyár területén. A detonáció egy olyan csarnokban következett be, ahol vegyi anyagokat tároltak, ezt követően tűz ütött ki a telephelyen.
A robbanás jelentős károkat okozott: a lökéshullám egy téglafalat és a gyárat a vasúti területtől elválasztó kerítést is megrongálta. A környéken sűrű fekete füst emelkedett a levegőbe, amit a közeli pályaudvaron is látni lehetett.
A tűz miatt a helyszínre tűzoltó egységeket és speciális beavatkozókat riasztottak. A vasúti közlekedésben is fennakadások keletkeztek, több kólvárosi járat késéssel közlekedett.
A hatóságok szerint két férfi megsérült a balesetben, őket kórházba szállították. A hivatalos információk ipari balesetről szólnak, a létesítmény működését és a robbanás körülményeit vizsgálják.
