Tiltakozások robbantak ki a világ legnagyobb, a közép-kínai Henan tartományban található iPhone-gyárában, a közösségi oldalakon kedden kiszivárgott felvételek szerint a szigorú járványügyi lezárások közepette tiltakozó munkások a biztonsági személyzettel is összecsaptak.
A videók tanúsága szerint a tajvani tulajdonú, Csengcsouban lévő Foxconn gyár dolgozói magasabb fizetést és több ételt követeltek. Közülük többeket megvertek vagy elvittek az őrök. A videók felkerültek a kommunista országban betiltott Twitterre is.
Korábban a Foxconn azt közölte, hogy a dolgozók a korlátozások miatt nem hagyhatják el az összeszerelő-üzemet, a helyi hatóságok pedig megtagadták a belépést a mintegy 200 ezer embert foglalkoztató gyár területére.
A vállalat egyelőre nem reagált a tiltakozások hírére.
Októberben már kikerültek közösségi médiára olyan videók, amelyeken az látszik, hogy a járványügyi karantén miatt a létesítményben gyakorlatilag fogva tartott munkások áttörik a terület köré emelt barikádokat, és – a közösségi közlekedés részleges leállítása miatt – olykor gyalog indulnak haza.

A helyi sajtó szerint az Apple egyik legnagyobb beszállítójának számító Foxconn-nak további tízezer alkalmazottra lenne szüksége ahhoz, hogy normalizálja a termelést. Olyan híresztelések is vannak, hogy a Kínai Kommunisa Párt káderekkel próbálja feltölteni a gyárat, biztosítandó a termelés folyamatosságát.
Kínában 2020 óta a gyárak általában úgy reagálnak a környékeiken jelentett fertőzésekre, hogy hosszú időre elzárják munkásaikat a megbetegedések elkerülése és a termelés fenntartása érdekében. A gyakorlat ellen a dolgozók már többször tiltakoztak, és azt is a munkáltatók szemére vetették, hogy mindeközben nem biztosítják a megfelelő higiéniai feltételeket, és sokszor nem jutnak elég ételhez sem. Kínában továbbra is az úgynevezett zéró-Covid-politikát követik, ami szigorú zárlatokat, karanténintézkedéseket és tömeges teszteléseket jelent.
