Dél-Koreában az elmúlt öt napban rendkívül heves esőzések pusztítottak: mintegy 13 000 ember kényszerült elhagyni otthonát, miközben az áradatok autókat ragadtak magukkal, házakat romboltak le, valamint sárlavinákat és földcsuszamlásokat idéztek elő – számolt be az Euronews.
A Dél-Koreát öt napon át sújtó özönvízszerű esőzéseknek 17 halottja és 11 eltűntje van – közölte a kormány vasárnap.
A belügyi és biztonsági minisztérium szerint egy ember meghalt, miután háza a heves esőzések során összedőlt, egy másik személyt pedig holtan találtak, miután egy megduzzadt patak elsodorta a Szöultól északkeletre fekvő Gapjong városában.
A minisztérium közölte, hogy a hétvégén a déli Szancsong városában 10 embert holtan találtak és négy másikat eltűntként jelentettek, miután a heves esőzések földcsuszamlásokat, házak összeomlását és hirtelen áradásokat okoztak.
A minisztérium jelentése szerint egy ember meghalt a déli Gwangju városában. A jelentés szerint hét másik személyt továbbra is eltűntként tartanak nyilván.
A múlt hét elején egy ember szintén meghalt, amikor autóját beton és föld temette maga alá, miután a Szöultól délre fekvő Oszanban egy felüljáró támfala összeomlott a heves esőzések során. Három másik személyt egy víz alá került autóban, egy megduzzadt patakban és egy elárasztott pincében találtak holtan Dél-Csungcsong tartomány déli részén.
Helyi idő szerint vasárnap délután 4 óráig mintegy 2730 embert evakuáltak otthonából – áll a minisztériumi jelentésben. Az eső azóta Dél-Korea nagy részén elállt, és az egész országban feloldották a heves esőzésekre vonatkozó riasztást.
A minisztériumi jelentés szerint szerda óta a déli régiókban mintegy 600-800 milliméternyi eső esett.
Lee Jae Myung elnök mély együttérzését fejezte ki azoknak, akik elvesztették szeretteiket és anyagi kárt szenvedtek. Lee elmondta, hogy a kormány szorgalmazni fogja, hogy a felhőszakadások által súlyosan érintett területeket különleges katasztrófaövezetekké nyilvánítsák, ami nagyobb pénzügyi és egyéb helyreállítási támogatást biztosítana számukra a kormány részéről.

Július 7-én este heves vihar csapott le Kárpátaljára, amelyet eső, jégeső és orkánerejű szél kísért. A rossz idő több járás lakóit is érintette: tucatnyi kidőlt fa, megrongálódott háztetők és tömeges áramszünetek állnak fenn.
A Rendkívüli Helyzetek Állami Szolgálata (DSZNSZ) egységei 20 alkalommal vonultak ki, ez idő alatt 22 kidőlt fát távolítottak el az utakról, elektromos vezetékekről és magántelkekről.
A legsúlyosabban érintett település Badótanya (Beregszászi járás), ahol mintegy 50 családi ház tetőrszerkezete sérült meg. A Munkácsi járásban, Nagylucska faluban további két ház tetőszerkezete rongálódott meg a szél miatt.
Reggel 6 órára 133 település maradt áram nélkül, ebből 36 teljesen, 97 pedig részlegesen. A hibaelhárításon a helyi áramszolgáltató (REM) szerelőbrigádjai dolgoznak. Közben bizottságok házról házra járva mérik fel és dokumentálják a keletkezett károkat.

Az ország modernkori történetében nem volt még olyan hideg, mint ami hétfőn várható. Sok helyen hó és jeges utak nehezítik a közlekedést, százezrek vannak áram nélkül a zord időjárásban. Közben Iowa államban olyan extrém időjárási helyzet alakult ki, hogy a republikánus elnökjelöltek lemondták kampányrendezvényeiket.
Csak lépésben haladhatnak az autók Iowában, az Amerikai Egyesült Államok egyik középnyugati államában, ahol két hóvihar is végigsöpört. Most a szokásosnál is nagyobb figyelem irányul a hóval borított Iowa államra, hétfőn ugyanis ott kezdődik az előválasztások folyamata, amelynek során minden államban voksolnak a republikánus szavazók az elnökjelöltjükről.
Donald Trump, az Egyesült Államok volt elnöke nagy előnnyel vezet a republikánus elnökjelölt-aspiránsok között, de pénteken a négy kampányrendezvénye közül hármat kénytelen volt lemondani az ítéletidő miatt. A héten megjelent felmérés szerint jelenleg 49 százalékon áll a támogatottsága.
Trump ezzel megelőzi Nikki Haley volt ENSZ-nagykövetet, akit a szavazók 12 százaléka támogat, és Ron DeSantis floridai kormányzót, akit a megkérdezettek 11 százaléka látna szívesen elnökjelöltként.
Ők is lemondták kampánygyűléseiket a hóvihar miatt.
Egyelőre nem lehet tudni milyen hatással lesz az extrém időjárás az előválasztásra. Iowa államban 1500 helyszínen személyesen voksolhatnak majd a választók, az elnökjelöltek pedig arra buzdítanak mindenkit, hogy menjenek el szavazni. „A tél leghidegebb napjai állnak előttünk. A hidegfront egészen szerdáig tart majd, nagyon hideg, mínusz 20 fok körül alakul majd hajnalonként a hőmérséklet” – mondta Jose Tirado, a chicagói katasztrófavédelem vezetője.
Kétszázezren vannak áram nélkül Michigan és Wisconsin államokban. New York kormányzója rendkívüli állapotot hirdetett a sarkvidéki hideg miatt.
„Felszólítottam a Nemzeti Gárdát legyenek készültségben, mert nagyon nagy mennyiségű hó fog esni” – mondta Kathy Hochul New York-i kormányzó, hozzátéve: a térségben komoly áramkimaradásra kell számítani a rendkívül erős szél miatt.
