Az iráni Iszlám Forradalmi Gárda (IRGC) szombaton lefoglalt egy Izraelhez kötődő konténerhajót a Perzsa- és Ománi-öböl közötti Hormuzi-szoros közelében – jelentette az állami Iszlám Köztársasági Hírügynökség.
Az IRGC különleges erői helikopterről ereszkedtek le az MSC Aries nevű hajóra, és Irán felségvizei felé irányították – közölte az Iszlám Köztársaság hírügynökség, a lefoglalás okáról azonban nem mondtak semmit.
A hajó tulajdonosa a Zodiac Maritime, amely egy izraeli üzletember, Eyal Ofer Zodiac csoportjának része – derítette ki a Bloomberg.
A hajó legutóbb az Egyesült Arab Emírségek Khalifa kikötőjében kötött ki, és helyi idő szerint péntek este kelet felé, a Hormuzi-szoros felé haladt. Az Ambrey Analytics biztonsági és hírszerző cég közölte, hogy az Egyesült Arab Emírségek-beli Fudzsairától mintegy 50 tengeri mérföldre északkeletre szálltak le rá az iráni erők.
A hajó lefoglalása az első lépése lehet az iráni bosszúhadjáratnak, amelyet azt követően hirdettek meg, hogy a szíriai Damaszkuszban, az iráni nagykövetség elleni támadás során, feltételezések szerint izraeli erők megöltek több iráni katonai vezetőt. Izrael felkészült az iráni válaszra. Elemzői vélemények szerint annak valószínűsége csekély, hogy Irán közvetlen háborúba kezdjen Izraellel, valószínűbb, hogy izraeli érdekeltségeket támad majd, akár drón-, illetve rakéta csapásokkal.
A Zodiac hajói az elmúlt években többször is célpontjai voltak ebben a térségben különböző támadásoknak, Izrael és az Egyesült Államok szerint Irán állt azok hátterében is. Teherán ugyanakkor eddig tagadta a vádakat. Legutóbb február 20-án egy légi jármű találta el a Campo Square olajszállító tartályhajót az Arab-tengeren.

Fegyveresek elfoglaltak egy izraeli cégcsoport tulajdonában álló tartályhajót a jemeni Áden kikötővárosának térségében vasárnap – közölték amerikai hatóságok és egy biztonsági cég.
Az Ambrey nevű, hajózási biztonsággal foglalkozó brit magáncég tudomása szerint a Zodiac Maritime vállalat üzemeltette. A Central Park nevű tankert érte támadás az Ádeni-öbölben.
A Zodiac feltételezett kalóztámadásról beszélt, mondván: számukra a legfontosabb a 22 fős legénység biztonsága.
A közlés szerint a foszforsavat szállító hajónak török a kapitánya, a legénységben pedig orosz, vietnami, bolgár, indiai, georgiai és Fülöp-szigeteki állampolgárok is vannak.
Bár eddig egyetlen csoport sem jelentkezett a támadás elkövetőjeként, az utóbbi napokban legalább két hasonló eset történt, amelyek kapcsolatba hozhatók az Izrael és a Hamász palesztin terrorszervezet közötti konfliktussal.
Mindazonáltal Ádent és térségét Jemen nemzetközileg elismert kormánya ellenőrzi szövetségese, a szaúdi vezetésű arab koalíció segítségével.
A térség viszonylag messze van a húszi síita lázadók uralta régiótól.
Az Irán támogatását élvező felkelők az Izrael ellen október 7-én végrehajtott terrortámadás és a gázai háború kezdete óta több rakétát és drónt indítottak Izrael ellen, illetve november 19-én megerősítették, hogy elfoglalták a Galaxy Leader elnevezésű teherhajót a Vörös-tenger déli részén, pénteken pedig feltételezett iráni dróntámadás érte a szintén izraeli tulajdonban lévő Symi teherhajót az Indiai óceánon.
