Kelet-Pakisztánban 129 embert vettek őrizetbe szerda éjjel, miután istenkáromlás és a Korán állítólagos megszentségtelenítése miatt több ezer fős muszlim tömeg támadt keresztény hívőkre és épületekre – közölték a helyi hatóságok.
Az elmúlt évek egyik legbrutálisabb, keresztényekkel szembeni támadásában senki sem halt meg, a város keresztény negyedében élő hívek még a zűrzavar elején biztonságos helyre tudtak menekülni. A pandzsábi kormányzat rendőrségi és félkatonai egységeket vezényelt a helyszínre a rend helyreállítására.
A letartóztatások folyamatban vannak – tette hozzá Szejid Mubásir Sah rendőrségi szóvivő.
A történteket több nyugati ország és szervezet is elítélte. Vedant Patel amerikai külügyminisztériumi szóvivő a történtek teljes kivizsgálására szólította fel a pakisztáni hatóságokat.
A szerdai támadásban leégett egy templom, további négy templomban és mintegy két tucatnyi házban pedig jelentős kár keletkezett. Huszonkét embernek sikerült elmenekülnie, de az elkövetők további húsz embert – köztük nőket és gyerekeket – továbbra is túszként tartanak fogva.
Iszlamista terrorcsoportok és más bűnbandák rendszeresen hajtanak végre emberrablásokat is, nem ritkán diákokat is elhurcolnak. Az iszlamisták ezt azért teszik, hogy a foglyul ejtett lányokat és nőket házasságra kényszerítsék embereikkel, vagy arra, hogy öngyilkos merényletet kövessenek el, másokat pedig dolgoztatnak. A bűnszervezetek váltságdíjért rabolnak el gyerekeket.
Az idén eddig négy baptista templomot ért támadás Kaduna államban. 2021 júliusában 120 gyereket hurcoltak el a Bethel baptista iskolából, a diákok többsége hónapokig volt fogságban.

Keresztények tízezrei tüntettek a Kongói Demokratikus Köztársaságban az ország keleti felét szorongató erőszak ellen vasárnap.
Az MTI szerint a vasárnapi misét követően az ország fővárosában, Kinshasában és más nagyvárosokban a hívek tízezrei özönlötték el az utcákat, követve a helyi katolikus püspöki konferencia felhívását.
A tüntetők az ellen a küzdelem ellen tiltakoztak, amelyet a közép-afrikai ország vezetése folytat az ország keleti részén tucatnyi fegyveres szervezettel szemben. Ezek közt a Március 23. Mozgalom (M23) nevű szervezet harcosaival is küzdenek, akiket – állításuk szerint – a szomszédos Ruanda támogat (ezt viszont a ruandai kormány tagadja).
A kormány hadserege és az M23 között októberben szabadult el ismét az erőszak, és ennek következtében az ENSZ humanitárius ügyeket koordináló hivatala (OCHA) szerint 390 ezer embernek kellett elmenekülnie az otthonából.
Nemet mondunk a háborúra, a megosztott Kongóra – jelentette ki a vasárnapi demonstráción Blaise Emmanuel, a Szent Erzsébet egyházközség plébánosa, aki paptársaival közösen vezette a menetet a főváros Montgafula nevű szegénynegyedében.
A kinshasai megmozduláson sokan énekeltek, és transzparenseket tartottak fel, amelyeken egyebek mellett „nem a balkanizációra és nem a nemzetközi közösség képmutatására”, illetve „Kongó nem eladó” feliratok voltak olvashatók (egyesek amiatt hibáztatják a Nyugatot Kongóban, hogy nem vonta felelősségre Ruandát a feszültség szítása miatt).
A tiltakozó akció végén a résztvevők elénekelték a kongói nemzeti himnuszt, egy pap pedig egy székre felállva szólt a tömeghez.

Antony Blinken amerikai külügyminiszter augusztusban hihetőnek nevezte az ENSZ szakértőinek azon értékelését, miszerint Ruanda továbbra is támogatja a Március 23. Mozgalom fegyvereseit. Az Európai Parlament november végén arra szólította fel Ruandát, hogy hagyjon fel az M23 milicistáinak támogatásával.
Mindeközben viszont az Európai Bizottság 20 millió eurónyi támogatást nyújtott a ruandai hadseregnek az iszlamisták elleni küzdelemre Mozambikban.
Ezt a döntést a múlt héten bírálta a Kongói Demokratikus Köztársaság kormánya, és emiatt is vélhetik úgy a Kongói Demokratikus Köztársaságban, hogy a Nyugat áll a konfliktus mögött.

A BFM TV szerint berontott, a Figaro úgy tudja, már bent ült a templomban a támadó, de gyanús lett, ekkor hívták a rendőröket a hívők, majd találták meg rajta a gyanús övet, illetve egy nagy kést.
Miután az egyik hívő hívta a rendőröket, letartóztatták a férfit. Jelenleg bombaszakértő vizsgálja, hogy a férfin lévő öv tartalmaz-e robbanóanyagot. A férfi egyelőre semmit nem hajlandó mondani az őt kihallgató rendőröknek.
A támadás azért is jelentős, hiszen holnap december 24-e, karácsony lesz, szenteste, ebben az időszakban a terrorfenyegetettség különösen érzékeny, az ünnepi időszakban sokan tartanak iszlamista terrortámadástól, a keresztény hívők ellen.
