Bangladesi turisták veszítették életüket India Kasmír térségében, miután kigyulladt több lakóhajó is.
A helyi rendőrség beszámolója szerint három bangladesi turista veszítette életét, amikor a Kasmír régióban található Dal-tavon több lakóhajó kigyulladt szombaton. A beszámoló szerint a tűz helyi idő szerint hajnalban ütött ki és gyorsan átterjedt a szomszédos hajókra.
„Három bangladesi állampolgárságú turista veszítette életét az öt, a tűzben elpusztult lakóhajóban” – idézi a Reuters a rendőrségi szóvivőt, aki hozzátette, hét további ember megsérült. Az előzetes vizsgálatok szerint a tüzet egy sérült vezeték okozta.
A Jammu és a Kasmír régiókba 2022-ben több mint 16,2 millió turista érkezett, ami rekordnak számít, mióta az ország felszabadult a brit uralom alól 1947-ben. A területet a Himalája hófödte hegycsúcsai, a gyors folyású folyók és patakok, valamint a környék tavain horgonyzó lakóhajók miatt látogatják sokan.
A rekord különösen jó hír Narendra Modi miniszterelnök kormányának, ami a muszlim többségű Jammu és Kasmír különleges jogköreit 2019-ben visszavonta azzal a szándékkal, hogy integrálja a két régiót az országba. Kasmírban már több évtizede folyik a harc a szeparatista felkelőkkel, Kasmírt ugyanis a szomszédos Pakisztán is saját területének ismeri el.
