A menedékkérők számára fenntartott szálláshelyek megteltek, így több száz menedékkérő kényszerült arra, hogy az utcán töltse az éjszakát.
Belgium fővárosában már leesett az első hó, ami miatt a hőmérséklet is gyorsan fagypont alá csökkent, ennek ellenére megannyi menedékkérő töltötte az utcán az éjszakát. Az alapvető probléma abban rejlik, hogy a bevándorlók számára fenntartott szálláshelyek megteltek, ezért a bevándorlók az utcán várakoztak.
A Petit-Chateau szálláshely, mely a fővárosban található, eredetileg 800 fő befogadására alkalmas, ebből azonban 200 ágy csak vészhelyzet esetére van fenntartva. A szállás azonban megtelt, így azok, akiknek nem maradt hely, kénytelen az utcán várakozni az épület előtt a további ügyintézésre.
A nyilvántartása vétel Petit-Chateau-ban történik, a menedékkérelmeket tehát itt lehet benyújtani, ez pedig az első lépés ahhoz, hogy a leadott kérelem elbírálásáig ideiglenesen elhelyezzék őket. Az EUobserver értesülései szerint a szálláshely dolgozói kijelentették, hogy a hatóságokat felkészületlenül érte az újabb menekülthullám.
A dolgozók szerint az USA afganisztáni kivonulása is nagy szerepet játszott a legújabb menekülthullámban, ezen felül pedig a logisztikával is vannak problémák: a szálláshely 1500 férőhelyet tart fenn a koronavírusos betegeknek, valamint több ezret a nyári áradások károsultjainak.

Menedékkérelmet nyújtott be kedden Dél-Koreában egy férfi, akinek sikerült átszöknie az Észak-Koreával közös, szigorúan őrzött határon – közölték katonai tisztségviselők Szöulban.
A dél-koreai hadsereg szerint a biztonsági kamerák felvételén látható, amint a férfinak sikerült átjutnia a határon a két ország keleti partja mentén. A fegyveres erők közlése szerint körülbelül három óráig tartott, míg megtalálták. Azt nem erősítették meg, hogy a férfi észak-koreai állampolgár, azt sem tudni, hogy civil vagy katonaszökevény. A Yonhap dél-koreai hírügynökség szerint az illető 20-30 év közötti, és közölte, hogy Dél-Koreában akar maradni.
Dél-Koreát négy kilométer hosszú ütköző zóna választja el Észak-Koreától, és a két ország jogilag a mai napig hadban áll egymással, mert a koreai háború végén, 1953-ban csak tűzszüneti megállapodás született, békeszerződés nem.
