A franciaországi Saint-Étienne város mozijába egy 20 fős, fiatalokból álló banda rontott be a vészkijáraton. A Halálos iramban 9 című akciófilm premier előtti vetítését akarták megnézni ingyen. Mivel kidobni nem tudták őket, már csak azt kérték tőlük, hogy legalább csendben nézzék a filmet. Erre sem voltak hajlandók, több nézőt összevertek, köztük egy terhes nőt is, a mozi gépészét pedig kis híján agyonverték. A bűnözők elmenekültek.
A Lyontól délnyugatra található Saint-Étienne városban több francia család számára rémálommá változott a békésnek induló este a moziban. A vetítés kezdetén, a nézőtéren jeggyel tartózkodó két fiatal a mozi vészkijáratát belülről kinyitva beengedett a terembe egy 18 fős, jegy nélkül az ajtó másik oldalán várakozó csoportot.
A húszfős banda filmnézés közben hangosan randalírozni kezdett, amelyet a nézők szóvá tettek. Ezután a biztonsági őr megpróbálta a jegy nélküli csoportot kitessékelni, sikertelenül: a fiatalok megtagadták a távozást. A biztonsági őr inkább távozott, azonban a randalírozás és a vita folytatódott. A banda a nézőkre támadt. A földön fekvő embereket ütlegelték, rugdosták, és halállal fenyegették, egy terhes nőt is megtámadtak, a nő sokkot kapott, kórházba kellett szállítani. Egy másik francia férfit fojtogatni kezdtek, az ő életét a segítségére siető nézők mentették meg.
A mozigépész próbált segíteni a nézőket, őt nagyon megverték, szilánkosra tört az arccsontja, másfél hónapig biztosan nem tud dolgozni. A támadók a rendőrség érkezése előtt elmenekültek, a nyomozók a mozi biztonsági kameráinak a felvételét elemzik, hogy megpróbálják azonosítani a bűnözőket.
