Egy állatmentő szervezet jelentése szerint a katasztrófa óta legalább 61 emlős pusztult el, közülük 32 halála feltehetően az olajszennyezés következménye.
Az orosz Delfa állatvédő csoport közlése alapján a maradék 29 állat még a katasztrófa előtt hunyt el a térségben – írja az Euronews. „A testek állapota alapján úgy gondoljuk, hogy a legtöbb állat a katasztrófát követő első 10 napban halhatott meg, a tenger pedig folyamatosan mossa a partra a tetemeket” – közölte a szervezet a Telegramon.
Az ökológiai katasztrófa még december közepén történt, amikor a Fekete-tengeren Kercsi-szorosnál két, fűtőolajat szállító orosz tankerhajó is szerencsétlenül járt. A hajók több mint ötvenévesek voltak, ráadásul – az ukrán környezetvédelmi és természeti erőforrások minisztériuma szerint – nem is tengeri, hanem folyami szállításra tervezték őket.
Az egyik, Volgonyefty-212 névre hallgató tanker 4900 tonna olajat szállított, és az erős hullámzásban egész egyszerűen kettétört, az orra elsüllyedt. A másik, 4300 tonna olajat szállító Volgonyefty-239 elsodródott, majd Tamany kikötője közelében zátonyra futott.
Nem lehet tudni, hogy pontosan mennyi olaj került a tengerbe, a Reuters közlése alapján több, mint tíz kilométernyi partszakasz lett szennyezett. A kiömlött olaj nagy része azonban a tengerfenékre süllyedhetett, ami tovább nehezíti a károk felmérését és a szennyezés megfékezését.
December végén, csaknem két héttel az eset után Moszkva is elismerte, hogy ökológiai katasztrófa történt, ami miatt szövetségi szintű vészhelyzetet hirdettek az országban. Alekszandr Kurenkov, az orosz rendkívüli helyzetek minisztere közölte azt is, hogy bár folyamatosan számolják fel az észlelt szennyezéseket, az újabbak veszélye nem múlt el, mert a két megrongálódott tartályhajóból folyamatos a szivárgás – számolt be a hvg.hu.

Orosz tudósok a nem elegendő felszerelés miatt kritizálták a fekete-tengeri olajszennyezés elhárítására irányuló munkálatokat – írja a The Guardian.
A helyi szakértők szerint nem áll rendelkezésre elegendő felszerelés a Kercsi-szorosban viharba került két tartályhajóból kiömlő, mintegy 4300 tonna olaj eltakarításához.
A baleset még december 15-én történt, amikor két, összesen 9000 tonna fűtőolajat szállító, több mint ötvenéves Volgonyefty tankhajó hajótörést szenvedett a heves viharban, a nyílt tengeren a Fekete- és az Azovi-tenger között található Kercsi-szorosban.
Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnök a múlt héten „ökológiai katasztrófának” minősítette a balesetet, szerdán pedig a helyi hatóságok regionális vészhelyzetet hirdettek a Krasznodari területen.
A partvidék megtisztítására már legalább 10 ezer önkéntes jelentkezett, a tudósok szerint azonban nem rendelkeznek a mentesítéshez szükséges eszközökkel.
Nincsenek buldózerek, nincsenek teherautók. Lényegében nincsenek nehézgépek – mondta Viktor Danilov-Daniljan, az Orosz Tudományos Akadémia Vízproblémák Intézetének tudományos vezetője egy sajtótájékoztatón, aki a 90-es években Oroszország környezetvédelmi minisztere volt.
Az önkénteseknél szerinte csak „lapátok és használhatatlan műanyag zacskók vannak, amelyek szétszakadnak”.

Krasznodar kormányzójának tegnapi elmondása szerint ebből eddig közel 30 ezer tonnát sikerült összegyűjteni. Szergej Osztah, az Orosz Természettudományi Akadémia professzora szerint az olaj hamarosan elérheti a krími partokat, ezért gyors cselekvésre szólított fel.
A Delfa delfinmentő központ vizsgálata szerint az ökológiai baleset eddig legalább 21 delfin halálát okozta.

Venyiamin Kondratyjev, a Krasznodari terület kormányzója azzal indokolta az intézkedést, hogy a tenger továbbra is olajat mos ki a partokra az olajszennyezés által különösen érintett Anapa és Temrjuk kikötővárosok környékén.

„Eredetileg a tudósok és szakemberek számításai szerint a fűtőolaj nagy részének a Fekete-tenger mélyén kellett volna maradnia, ami lehetővé tette volna annak tengeri begyűjtését” – írta Kondratyjev a Telegram-oldalán. „Az időjárás azonban saját szabályokat diktál, a levegő felmelegszik és az olajszármazékok a felszínre emelkednek. Ennek következtében a tenger kimossa őket a partokra” – tette hozzá.
Időközben az olajszennyezés következményeinek elhárításáért felelős válságstáb közölte, hogy összesen több mint 256 kilométernyi partszakaszon végeztek el vizsgálatokat, 25 tonna olajos-vizes iszapot gyűjtöttek be, és 27,9 ezer négyzetméter területet kezeltek abszorbens anyaggal.
Alekszandr Kozlov orosz környezetvédelmi miniszter hétfőn ismertette, hogy hozzávetőleg 200 ezer tonna föld szennyeződhetett be, és eddig 17 ezer tonna olajszennyezett homokot távolítottak el a partokról.

Két hajó ütközött össze, az egyik tartályából borult a rakomány a tengerbe. Tizenhat tisztítójárművet küldtek a helyszínre, hogy megfékezzék a szennyezést.

Az olajszennyezés a közeli Pasir Panjang hajózási termináljáról terjedt el, miután egy kotróhajó pénteken egy álló bunkerhajónak ütközött. A Szingapúri Tengerészeti és Kikötői Hatóság még aznap közölte, hogy a bunkerhajtó sérült rakománytartájából ömlött az olaj a vízbe, a szivárgást már sikerült megfékezni, de további 16 takarítójárművet is útnak indítottak, hogy összegyűjtsék a vízfelszínen úszó szennyezéseket.
A környezetszennyezést viszont így sem lehet elkerülni. A halászközösségek halpusztulásra számítanak, a tengerbiológusok pedig a korallokat féltik. Szingapúr területén már így is nagyon veszélyeztetett az állomány, a globális felmelegedés például egyáltalán nem tesz neki jót.
Az egyik környezetvédő azt mondta, hogy az olaj mérgező, megfojthatja a korallokat. Elzárja őket a fotoszintézishez szükséges fénytől.
További problémát okozhat az olaj tisztításához használt vegyi anyagok hatása is. Egyes szerekről ugyanis megállapították, hogy nem felszívódik a szénhidrogén általuk, hanem megnő a sűrűségük, és elsüllyednek, így tovább szennyezik a tengeri élővilágot.

Január 15-én elsüllyedt egy Ginger hajó Mikolajiv tengeri kikötőjében. Az elsüllyedt hajóból olajtermékek szivárogtak ki – jelenti a Délnyugati Kerületi Állami Környezetvédelmi Felügyelőség.

Lemberg megyében december 24-én kőolajtermékek kerültek a Dnyeszter folyóba. Ennek következtében az Ivano-Frankivszk megyében Halicsban kőolajtermékekkel szennyeződött egy vízi artéria, az információk szerint a szennyeződés szintje 200-szorosa a megengedett határértéknek.
