Július elején pedig arról érkezett hír, hogy egy 14 éves fiú hajtott végre késes támadást a Sydney-i Egyetemen. A mentők egy 22 éves férfit láttak el, akit súlyos, de stabil állapotban szállítottak kórházba. Úgy tudni, hogy a megtámadott férfi és a 14 éves fiú nem ismerték egymást.
Míg a németországi fesztiválon történt késelések után hatalmas hajtóvadászat indult a támadó ellen. A sérültek közül többen is az életükért küzdenek, így lehetséges, hogy tovább nőhet az áldozat száma. Emellett úgy tűnik, immár fény derült rá, ki hajtotta végre a halálos támadást.

Összeütközött két teherszállító hajó kedden kora reggel az északi-tengeri Helgoland sziget közelében, a balesetben az első hírek szerint több ember eltűnt – közölte a német tengeri mentőszolgálat.
Az MTI híre szerint az ütközés 22 kilométerre délnyugatra történt Helgolandtól. Folyamatban van a kutatás a hajótöröttek után, a mentési munkálatokra számos hajót és egy helikoptert is mozgósítottak. A hatóságok tájékoztatása szerint eddig egy embert sikerült kimenteni a vízből.
A tengeri mentőszolgálat azt is közölte, hogy a balesetben érintett egyik teherhajó, a brit zászló alatt közlekedő Verity elsüllyedt az ütközés következtében. A hajó Brémából tartott az angliai Imminghambe, azt nem tudni, hány ember utazott rajta. A másik, bahamai bejegyzésű Polesie teherhajó fedélzetén 22 ember volt a baleset pillanatában.
Elsüllyedt a Szuezi-csatornában egy vontatóhajó, miután összeütközött egy hongkongi zászló alatt közlekedő LPG-tartályhajóval a stratégiailag fontos vízi úton – közölte szombaton a Szuezi-csatorna hatósága anélkül, hogy a hajóforgalomban keletkező fennakadásokra kitért volna.
A Fahd nevű vontatóhajó fedélzetén hét ember tartózkodott – közölte a csatornahatóság vezetője, Osama Rabie egy közleményben, hozzátéve, hogy a mentési munkálatok folyamatban vannak, és egy darut küldtek az elsüllyedt hajó kiemelésére.
