Nagy tűz ütött ki a dél-afrikai parlament épületében Fokvárosban vasárnap, a hatalmas füst is arról árulkodott, hogy komoly a helyzet.
Tűzoltók lepték el a környéket, hogy a lehető leghamarabb megfékezzék a lángokat a hatalmas füstoszloppal. A Yahoo az AFP-n keresztül arról számolt be, hogy kigyulladt a tető, és az épület egy része lángokban áll.
A tüzet egyelőre nem sikerült megfékezniük a tűzoltóknak, az épület falin pedig repedések keletkeztek. A közösségi médiában megjelent videós anyagok is arról árulkodnak, hogy a tűz továbbterjedt a parlamenten belül.
Egyelőre nem tudni, hogy mi okozhatta a tüzet az 1884-ben elkészült épületben. A fokvárosi parlament összesen három épületrészből áll, ami nagyon nagy múltra tekint vissza, és igazán régi részei is vannak.
Tavaly áprilisban a Fokvárosi Egyetem könyvtára gyulladt ki, ahol afrikai archívumok egyedülálló gyűjteményét őrzik. Arról sem érkezett jelentés, hogy vannak-e sérültjei a mostani tűznek.
