Decemberben értesült a román kormány, hogy a Pfizer gyógyszeripari cég pert indított ellene Brüsszelben bizonyos pénzösszegek behajtása érdekében. A cég szerint a román fél nem vásárolt meg tőle 28 millió adag koronavírus elleni oltást – írja az MTI.
A Pfizer–BioNTech „nehéz döntést hozott”, amikor hatósági eljárást indított Románia ellen annak érdekében, hogy teljesítse a kormány által a Covid–19 elleni oltóanyag megrendelésére vállalt kötelezettségeit az Európai Unió 2021 májusában aláírt szállítási szerződésének részeként – mondta Andrew Widger, a Pfizer globális médiakapcsolatokért felelős vezető igazgatója az ügyről.
„Arról van szó, hogy Románia végzett egy becslést arról, mennyi oltóanyagra lesz szüksége a világjárvány során, de a gyógyszergyártó cég által hivatkozott módosítást a bukaresti egészségügyi minisztérium nem írta alá, így nem is lehetett fizetni, mert a román állam ezeket a vakcinákat nem vette át” – magyarázta a másik oldalt Mihai Constantin kormányszóvivő. A News.ro számításai szerint 550 millió euró értékű elutasított vakcináról van szó.
A romániai vakcinák körül nem ez az egyetlen kényes ügy: a helyi korrupcióellenes ügyészség eljárást indított Florin Citu liberális szenátor, volt miniszterelnök és kormányának két volt minisztere ellen, akiket hivatali visszaéléssel gyanúsítanak a koronavírus elleni védőoltások európai uniós közvetítéssel lebonyolított beszerzése ügyében.
A vád szerint a 2021 májusában hivatalban lévő Citu-kormány 52,8 millió felesleges Pfizer- és Moderna-vakcinát rendelt meg, több mint egymilliárd euró kárt okozva ezáltal a román költségvetésnek. Az ügyészség szerint a kormány ezt annak ellenére tette, hogy a korábbi szerződésekben igényelt adagok bőven elegendőek lettek volna a lakosság beoltására. Sőt a 10,7 millió ember kétharmada a harmadik, megerősítő oltást is kérhette volna.
Nemrég Lengyelország és Magyarország is hasonló helyzetbe került a Pfizerrel. A Pfizer és a BioNTech még januárban indított pert a belga bíróságon Magyarország ellen a vakcinaszállítmányok miatt. A pert azért indították, mert 2022 novemberében Magyarország jelezte, hogy az ukrajnai háború miatt nem fizetne ki 3 millió adag Pfizer–BioNTech-vakcinát összesen 60 millió euró értékben.
Belgiumban Ursula von der Leyent, az Európai Bizottság elnökét jelentették fel, mert sokak szerint gyanús körülmények övezik a vakcinabeszerzést, amiben fontos szerepe volt.

A tornádó okozta károk valószínűleg hosszú távú gyógyszerhiányhoz vezetnek, miközben a Pfizer azt fontolgatja, hogy vagy más létesítményekbe helyezi át a termelést, vagy elvégzi a felújítást – jegyezte meg Fox.
Keith Stone, a körzet seriffje elmondta, hogy a szél és az eső miatt 50 ezer doboz gyógyszer ment tönkre a gyár területén.
Július 19-én egy erős tornádó következtében megrongálódott a Pfizer észak-karolinai üzeme. Az alkalmazottakat evakuálták. A tornádó körülbelül fél óráig tartott, és az állam több városát érintette. Legalább 16-an megsérültek.

Túladagolták a koronavírus elleni védőoltással egy német idősotthon nyolc dolgozóját – írja a Reuters. Mindannyian ötszörös adagot kaptak vasárnap a Pfizer-BioNTech vakcinájából.
Négyen közülük influenzaszerű tünetekkel kerültek kórházba, megfigyelésre.
Az eset a Mecklenburg–Elő-Pomeránia tartományban található Vorpommern-Rügen járásban történt. A járást vezető Stefan Kerth közleményben hangsúlyozta, hogy egyedi esetről van szó, ami egyéni hibákra vezethető vissza. A járásbeli hatóságok arra hívták fel a történtek után a figyelmet:
A BioNTech azt állította, hogy tesztjeik alapján nem jár komoly következményekkel, ha valaki nagyobb adaggal kap a vakcinából.
Nem sokkal korábban néhány másik járásban azért utasították vissza a vakcinációt, mivel felmerült, hogy a védőoltásokat nem megfelelő hőmérsékleten tárolták.
Magyarországra a múlt héten 9750 darab érkezett a Pfizer és a BioNTech által fejlesztett koronavírus-vakcinából, amely 4875 egészségügyi dolgozó beoltását teszi lehetővé. Közülük hétfőre 1094-en már megkapták a védőoltást.
