 Az orosz védelmi minisztérium közleménye szerint orosz újságírók tűz alá kerültek a zaporizzsjai régióban. A sebesült tudósítókat evakuálták a harctérről, de Rosztyiszlav Zsuravljov, a RIA Novosztyi orosz állami hírügynökség tudósítója kórházba szállítás közben életét vesztette.

 A RIA egy jelentésben elárulta, hogy tudósítója a front menti Pjatihatki faluban tudósított, és egyik operatőre is megsérült. A védelmi minisztérium szerint Ukrajna kazettás lőszert használt az incidenskor, de nem szolgáltatott bizonyítékot erre.
