Újabb hét férfit ítéltek el a szigetország legnagyobb gyermekbántalmazási ügyében. Rotherhamben hosszú éveken át több mint 1100 gyermeket és fiatalt abuzáltak szexuálisan brit-pakisztáni férfiak.
A Rotherham városában történtek alapjaiban rázták meg Nagy-Britanniát. 1997 és 2013 között pakisztáni származású brit férfiak több ezer gyermeket és fiatal lányt használtak ki szexuálisan. Az ügyben most további hét férfit ítéltek 25 évig terjedő börtönbüntetésre két kiskorú lány ellen elkövetett nemi erőszak és más bűncselekmények miatt.
A hét elítélt, 38 és 49 év közötti férfi a gyanú szerint 11 és 15 éves korukban molesztálta áldozatait. A sheffieldi koronabíróság által most kiszabott ítéletek 9-től 25 évig terjedő börtönbüntetést jelentenek – írja a PA brit hírügynökség.
Mindkét lányt ideiglenesen gondozóintézetekben helyezték el. Kínzóik rendszeresen autóval mentek értük, cigarettát, alkoholt, pénzt és kábítószert adtak nekik. A lányokat ezután megtámadták, szexuális cselekményekre kényszerítették vagy megerőszakolták őket. Rotherhamben sok más kiszolgáltatott gyermekeket is hasonló módon zaklattak és bántalmaztak.
„Az áldozatok által a vádlottak által elszenvedett kegyetlenség és bántalmazás megdöbbentő volt, és máig tartó hatással van az életükre”-idézte a PA az ügyészség szóvivőjét.
A nyomozók szerint az esetek a legsúlyosabbak közé tartoznak, amelyek a hosszú ideje tartó, bandák által elkövetett bántalmazások során történtek az észak-angliai városban. A botrány kiterjedtségét egy független vizsgálat tárta fel, amely megállapította, hogy 1997 és 2013 között több mint 1100 gyermek és fiatal vált szexuális erőszak áldozatává a városban.
Az ügy miatt súlyos vádak érték a város rendőrségét és hatóságait. A felügyeleti hatóság 2022-ben közzétett vizsgálati jelentése szerint a nyomozók gyakran nem vették komolyan a kiskorú áldozatokat, félrenéztek, vagy magukat okolták az ellenük elkövetett bűncselekményekért. Felmerült az is, hogy azért nem mertek fellépni a pakisztáni származású elkövetők ellen, nehogy rasszizmussal vádolják őket.

A rendőrség közlései szerint a robbanószerkezetet hajnali négy óra körül hozták működésbe. Az épület számos ablaka betört, de az incidensben senki sem sebesült meg. A sajtóban közzétett fotókon az látszik, hogy legalább öt horogkeresztet, valamint a „rohadt náci” kifejezést fújták vörös színű spray-vel a szakiskola ablakaira.
A hatóságok átvizsgálták a környéket, de nem találtak gyanúsítottat. A rendőrség tovább nyomoz az ügyben.
Rateb Abawi, az iskola szóvivője a holland sajtónak nyilatkozva elmondta, hogy nem sejti ki és milyen indíték állhatott a robbantás hátterében. „Az iskola nem kapott előzetes bejelentést, hogy bárki tervezne elkövetni valamit” – mondta tette hozzá.
A betört ablakokat letakarták, a horogkereszteket és a többi graffitit pedig eltávolították az épület homlokzatáról. A tanítás pénteken a szokásos módon folytatódik.
Egy csütörtökön közzétett rendőrségi jelentés szerint év eleje óta 496 robbantásos támadást követtek el hollandiai lakóházak és vállalkozások ellen, több mint kétszeresét tavalyi év azonos időszakában történt ilyen jellegű incidenseknek. Továbbra is Rotterdamban és Amszterdamban történik a legtöbb támadás, de egyre többet követnek el kisebb városokban is. A hatóságok és a holland települések polgármesterei fokozott segítséget kértek a növekvő bűnözés elleni küzdelemhez, és egyebek mellett a támadásokhoz gyakran használt Kobra tűzijátéktelepek európai uniós szintű betiltását szorgalmazták.

Személyautó robbant fel Rotterdamban, a szomszédos lakóházban tűz ütött ki, három eltűnt után kutatnak – tájékoztatott a Dutch News című angol nyelvű holland hírportál kedden az érintett körzet katasztrófavédelmi hatóságának közlését idézve.
A beszámoló szerint a robbanás Rotterdam Zuidwijk nevű kerületében történt éjszaka, egyelőre ismeretlen okból. A nagy erejű detonáció ablakokat tört be, lakások falait döntötte le, és autókat rongált meg.
A felrobbant autó melletti lakóházban tűz ütött ki, amit a tűzoltók időközben eloltottak, így az igazságügyi nyomozók megkezdhették a robbanás okának vizsgálatát.
Legalább két ember megsérült, egyiküket kórházba szállították, a háztömbben élő több tucat lakót evakuálták, három embert továbbra is eltűntként kezelnek.
A rotterdami rendőrség szóvivője azt mondta, hogy az okokról csak akkor lehet bizonyítékokat keresni, ha biztonságosan be lehet jutni az épületbe. Ekkor tudják ellenőrizni azt is, hogy a három eltűntet a romok temették-e maguk alá. Felkutatásukra drónokat is használnak – tájékoztatott. Kiemelte: sok minden még mindig tisztázatlan, a helyzet bonyolult. „Nem számítunk arra, hogy néhány órán belül választ kapunk arra a kérdésre, hogy mi okozta a robbanást” – fogalmazott, majd hozzátette: általában gyorsan be lehet jutni az érintett épületekbe kutyák segítségével, de ez a jelen esetben nem lehetséges. Nem világos ugyanis, hogy az épület milyen mértékben vált omladékonnyá a tűz következtében – tette hozzá.

Több embert megölt csütörtökön egy fegyveres, aki lövöldözött egy rotterdami egyetemi kórház egyik tantermében – közölte a holland rendőrség. A helyszínen tűz ütött ki. Szintén Rotterdamban, a kórházhoz közel, egy magánlakásban is lövöldözés volt, és itt is tűzeset történt.
Három ember, köztük egy 14 éves gyermek meghalt Rotterdamban, miután csütörtökön egy férfi két helyen is lövöldözésbe kezdett.
- A tettes először egy apartman lakóira támadt rá, a lakást pedig felgyújtotta.
- Nem sokkal később az Erasmus Egyetem oktatókórházának egyik előadójában lövöldözött.
- A holland rendőrök egy harminckét éves férfit vettek őrizetbe az épület tetején.
- A hatóságok azt közölték, hogy a gyanúsított az egyetem hallgatója és korábban már elítélték állatkínzásért.
- Lapértesülések szerint a feljelentő a mostani első áldozat volt, akinek a lánya órákkal később ugyancsak belehalt sérüléseibe.
- A harmadik áldozat az egyetem oktatója volt.
- A rendőrség azt feltételezi, hogy célzott támadásról van szó, és az elkövető egyedül cselekedett.
A rotterdami rendőrségnek az X közösségi oldalon közzétett tájékoztatása szerint egy fegyveres csütörtök délután előbb Rotterdam belvárosának egyik lakóházában nyitott tüzet, majd nemsokkal később a közeli kórház egyik oktatóterméből jelentettek fegyveres támadást.
Fred Westerbeke, a rotterdami kerületi rendőrkapitányság vezetője koraesti sajtótájékoztatóján elmondta: „a két rotterdami lövöldözés halálos áldozatokat követelt”.
Az áldozatok között van egy, a belvárosi magánházban elkövetett első lövöldözésben megsebesített 39 éves nő, akinek 14 éves lányát szintén lövés érte, később belehalt a sérülésekbe. A másik, az egyetemi klinika oktatótermében halálosan megsebesített áldozat az egyetem 46 éves tanára volt.
A 32 éves elkövető a holland rendvédelmi szervek „harci típusú” ruházatát, valamint golyóálló mellényt, hátizsákot és fejhallgatót viselt. A kábítószert egy banánszállítmányba rejtették.
A vámhatóság szerint ez a kikötő történetének eddigi legnagyobb drogfogása.
A kokaint rejtő banánt Ecuadorban rakták hajóra, amely a Panama-csatornán keresztül jutott el Hollandiába. Ott kábítószerkereső kutyák szagolták ki egy ellenőrzés során július 13-án. A drog lefoglalását a folyamatban lévő nyomozás érdekére tekintettel tartották eddig titokban.
A mintegy 600 millió euró értékű drogot megsemmisítették.
Az ügyben eddig nem voltak őrizetbevételek.

A rendőrség tájékoztatása szerint azt a fegyrest is kórházba szállították, akit többször meglőttek a rendőrök.
A gyanúsítottat és az áldozatot is letartóztatták.
Röviddel az eset után a rendőrök a letartóztattak egy harmadik embert is, akit azzal gyanúsítanak, hogy részt vett az incidensben.
