Öt síelő holttestére bukkantak a mentőalakulatok a svájci luxusüdülőhely, Zermatt közelében – írja a The Guardian.
A síelőket egy nappal aztán találták meg, hogy a mentőszolgálatokat egy csoport hegymászó riasztotta a Rimpfischhornra – a Valais-Alpok 4199 méteres csúcsára –, mert több pár sílécet hagytak felügyelet nélkül a csúcs közelében.

Péntek este egy másik incidensben négy alpinista rekedt a hegyen a köd és az erős szél miatt. Az első evakuálási kísérletet az időjárás miatt félbe kellett szakítani, de egy második kísérlettel éjfél után mind a négy embert biztonságba sikerült juttatni.

A hétvégén két síelő halt meg a Colorado államot sújtó késő téli lavinákban. A hófergeteg egy méteres magasságban és 150 méter szélességben tarolta le a hegyoldalt – számolt be az Origo az ABCnews-ra hivatkozva.
Szombaton és vasárnap is lavinák pusztítottak Colorado államban, melynek következtében két síelő meghalt. Szombaton a coloradói hegyimentők megtalálták a 36 éves Glenwood Springs-i síelő, Joel Shute holttestét, miután őt és két másik társát egy hatalmas lavina sodorta el a Colorado állambeli Marble-tól délnyugatra.
„Shute péntek este tűnt el, amikor a lavina 730 méteren söpörte le a hegyoldalt. A mentőalakulatok a férfi holttestét lavinatörmelékbe temetve találták meg” – közölte a központ. Egy síelő és snowboardos, aki Joel Shute mellett volt, életben maradt. Mindkettőjüket kórházba szállították – közölte a Gunnison megyei seriff hivatala. Vasárnap három sportolót sodort magával egy hatalmas lavina az Aspen közelében fekvő Aspen Highlands üdülőhelyen kívüli Maroon bowling területén – közölte a Pitkin megyei seriff hivatala. A síelők közül kettőnek sikerült túlélnie, azonban egyikük meghalt.
A télen eddig tizenkilenc ember halt meg lavinák miatt az Egyesült Államokban, köztük kilenc Coloradóban. A 2020-2021 telén lezajlott lavinák 37 ember halálát okozták országszerte, ez volt a legtöbb a lavinaközpont adatai szerint 1950-ig visszamenőleg.

A nyugat-ausztriai hegyekben is találtak a mentők egy holttestet szombaton az erős havazást követő lavina alatt – közölte a rendőrség. Kleinwalsertalban péntek este kezdődött kutatás, miután számos lavináról érkezett jelentés, elsősorban Tirolból.
Az Arlberg-hegységben két, feltehetően lavinába került ember után kutattak, de a mentőket veszélyeztető erős hóesés és heves széllökések miatt felfüggesztették a kutatást.
Előzőleg pénteken egy harminckét éves kínai síelő vesztette életét lavinában a tiroli Ötz-völgyben, egy fiatal fiút pedig egy lavina sodort el Kitzbühel térségében, ő súlyos sérüléseket szenvedett.

Lavina temetett be több sízőt szombaton az ausztriai Salzburg tartomány Tamswegi járásában, hárman életüket vesztették, ketten megsérültek – közölte az osztrák vöröskereszt, valamint a hegyimentők szervezete.
Sízők egy nyolcfős csoportja letért a kijelölt pályáról, és 4-5 méter mélyen maga alá temette őket a lavina. A mentők kettejüknek már csak az élettelen testét tudták kiásni a hó alól, egy harmadik sportoló pedig azt követően halt meg, hogy helikopterrel elszállították a klagenfurti kórházba.
Az utóbbi időben a lavinák átlagosan húsz ember halálát okozták évente Ausztriában. A koronavírus-járvány kezdete óta kevesebben vesztették így életüket, mert kevesebben is síeltek, részben a pályák bezárása miatt.
