Egy kínai diák úgy kerülte el a lakbérfizetést, hogy fél évig titokban egy sanghaji bevásárlóközpont lépcsői alatt lakott.

A férfi, akinek a nevét nem hozták nyilvánosságra, egy eldugott helyen alakította ki rögtönzött „lakását”, amit egy ergonomikus székkel, sátorral, matraccal, asztallal és egy számítógéppel is felszerelt.
A férfi időnként elhagyta rejtekhelyét, hogy a bevásárlóközpont konnektoraiból feltöltse telefonja és laptopja akkumulátorát.
Először néhány hónappal ezelőtt vette őt észre egy biztonsági őr, de az őr hagyta, hogy maradjon, amikor a diák elmondta, hogy szüksége van egy helyre, ahol tanulhat.
Október végén azonban egy másik biztonsági őr is kiszúrta a diák rejtekhelyét, és ő kevésbé volt elnéző vele, így október 30-án letartóztatták.
