Mintegy hatezer liter olaj ömlött az Északi-tengerbe a németországi Cuxhaven kikötővárosnál, ahol két hajó összeütközött – közölte szerdán a Tengerészeti Vészhelyzeti Parancsnokság.
A közlemény szerint a balesetben személyi sérülést nem jelentettek. A műszaki mentőszolgálat és a tűzoltóság munkatársai úszó olajgátakat állítottak fel, hogy megakadályozzák az olajfolt terjedését a vízben.
A 69 méter hosszú Capella tartályhajó szerdán reggel ütközött össze az olajfúró tornyok utánpótlását szállító 44 méteres Coastal Legenddel. A balesetben a Coastal Legend sérülése miatt ömlött olaj a tengerbe.
Az egyelőre nem derült ki, hogy a két hajó hogyan ütközhetett össze.
A cuxhaveni központi parancsnokság szóvivője elmondta, hogy becsléseik szerint mintegy hatezer liter olaj került a tengerbe. Hozzátette, hogy a kikötőben már amúgy is volt olaj a vízben, de – mint mondta – „minden csepp olaj, ami belekerül, már túl sok”.

A felvételeken jól látható, ahogy lávához hasonló narancsszínben lángol a tenger. A közösségi média a rendkívüli ritkán látható jelenséget gyorsan felkapta. A kör alakzatú tűzfészket a tűz szemének keresztelték el.
A balesetet gázszivárgás okozta egy víz alatti csővezetéknél nem messze a mexikói Pemex olajtársaság egyik tengeri olajfúrótornyától.
A lángokat néhány óra alatt sikerült megfékezni. Személyi sérülésről nem érkezett hír és az olajfúrókútról sem kellett senkit kimenekíteni.
A mexikói hatóságok közleménye szerint nem történt olajszennyeződés.

A hatóságok egy videót is közzétettek a drámai mentésről, a felvételen látható, ahogy az egyik narancssárga mentőmellényben lévő tengerész a vízbe ugrik.
A hajónak a motorja is meghibásodott, ezért a norvég partok felé sodródik, kedd reggelre már körülbelül 130 kilométerre volt Alesundtól. A hatóság egyik illetékese a lapnak azt mondta, hogy amint az időjárás engedi, szeretnének valakit a hajó fedélzetére feljuttatni, hogy előkészítse a vontatását.
