Regionális vészhelyzetet hirdettek ki szerdán a helyi hatóságok az oroszországi Krasznodari területen az olajszennyezés miatt.
Venyiamin Kondratyjev, a Krasznodari terület kormányzója azzal indokolta az intézkedést, hogy a tenger továbbra is olajat mos ki a partokra az olajszennyezés által különösen érintett Anapa és Temrjuk kikötővárosok környékén.
Az összesen 9000 tonna fűtőolajat szállító, több mint ötvenéves két Volgonyefty tankhajó december 15-én szenvedett hajótörést a heves viharban a nyílt tengeren a Fekete- és az Azovi-tenger között található Kercsi-szorosban.
Az egyik hajó legénységének egy tagja életét vesztette, tizenegyen megsérültek. A roncsokból továbbra is szivárog az olaj, és már több tucat kilométeren beszennyezte a partvidéket.

Időközben az olajszennyezés következményeinek elhárításáért felelős válságstáb közölte, hogy összesen több mint 256 kilométernyi partszakaszon végeztek el vizsgálatokat, 25 tonna olajos-vizes iszapot gyűjtöttek be, és 27,9 ezer négyzetméter területet kezeltek abszorbens anyaggal.
