A heves esőzések sújtotta Vietnámban a közelmúltban történt árvíz legalább 90 halálos áldozatot követelt egy hét alatt, 12 ember pedig eltűnt a vasárnap közzétett legfrissebb hivatalos adatok szerint.
A november 16. óta elhunyt 90 ember közül több mint hatvanat a hegyvidéki közép-vietnámi Dak Lak tartományban regisztrálták, ahol a víz több tízezer házat öntött el – közölte a környezetvédelmi minisztérium.
A délkelet-ázsiai ország déli és középső részén október vége óta folyamatos esőzések vannak, amelyek ismételt áradásokat okoznak, és turisztikai célpontokat, történelmi helyszíneket árasztanak el. A múlt héten egész városrészek kerültek víz alá a déli partvidéki Nha Trang városában. Földcsuszamlások sújtották a turisták által kedvelt Dá lat város környékét is – írja az atv.hu.
Vasárnap több autópálya szakasz is járhatatlan maradt az árvíz és a földcsuszamlások miatt – közölte a környezetvédelmi minisztérium, hozzátéve, hogy ugyanez vonatkozik egyes vasútvonalakra is.
Több mint 129 ezer fogyasztó továbbra is áram nélkül van, miután a múlt héten akár egymillió embert is érintettek az áramkimaradások. A minisztérium az áradások által okozott gazdasági veszteségeket mintegy 300 millió euróra becsülte.

Az elmúlt tíz év legnagyobb tájfunja, a Jagi nevű szupervihar csapott le Vietnámra, miután már Kínát, Hongkongot és a Fülöp-szigeteket is érintette. A tájfun a tartományok nagy részén áramkimaradásokat okozott.
Korábban a kormány több riasztást adott ki, és az árvíz vagy földcsuszamlás által veszélyeztetett embereket evakuálták. Négy repülőteret zártak le, köztük Hanoiban és Hajpongban. A trópusi ciklon a kora reggeli órákban a tengerparti Quang Nam városnál érte el a szárazföldet, és Da Nang tartomány felé haladt tovább négyes kategóriájú viharként, óránként 117 kilométer sebességgel – olvasható a közleményben.
A ciklon vasárnap a legerősebb idei viharként csapott le a Fülöp-szigetekre, és legalább nyolc ember halálát okozta. Vietnamból halálos áldozatokról nem érkezett jelentés, de legalább kilencen megsérültek, miközben megpróbálták megerősíteni házaikat.
A vietnami meteorológiai hatóság arra figyelmeztetett, hogy az ország középső részein, Quang Tri és Quang Ngai tartományok között további heves esőzésekre kell számítani, becslések szerint 150-250 milliméternyi csapadékkal. Egyes helyeken az eső mennyisége elérheti a 300 millimétert, ami földcsuszamlásokat és hirtelen áradásokat okozhat.
A vihar miatt tíz repülőtér zárva maradt, a Vietnam Airlines állami légitársaság pedig közölte, hogy 148 járatot töröltek, ami összesen mintegy 14 ezer utast érint.
A helyi hatóságok a vihar miatt kedden több mint 270 ezer katonát mozgósítottak, a lakosok pedig homokzsákokkal erősítették meg otthonaikat.
A központi partvidék veszélyeztetett területein élő több százezer embert kimenekítették a vihar elől.
A tájfun várhatóan erejét veszti és eloszlik, amint átvonul a szárazföldön és eléri Közép-Vietnam hegyvidéki részének kávétermelő területeit.

Egy vietnami bíróság 12 év börtönbüntetésre ítélte Tran Duc Thach kormánykritikus írót és költőt, amiért a vádak szerint „eltorzította a gazdasági és társadalompolitikai eseményeket, illetve rágalmazta és megalázta a (kommunista) párt és az állam vezető személyiségeit” – közölte a délkelet-ázsiai ország állami sajtója kedden.
A 69 éves Thach a közlés szerint bevallotta bűnösségét. A sajtójelentések szerint 2019 májusa és 2020 márciusa között több kormánykritikus írást is megjelentetett a Facebook-oldalán. Áprilisban vették őrizetbe.
Thachot 2009-ben egyszer már három év börtönre ítélték államellenes propaganda vádjával. A vietnami nemzeti ünnep alkalmából, 2011-ben szabadulhatott idő előtt több mint tízezer más rabbal együtt.
Tran Duc Thach alkotásaiban főleg a szabadság és igazságosság nélküli élettel foglalkozik. Regényeiben nagy szerepet játszanak az emberi jogok megsértései és a vietnami jogrendszer. Memoárjában pedig egy észak-vietnami katonák által elkövetett mészárlásról ír, amelynek szemtanúja volt 1975-ben Dong Nai tartományban. Jogvédők szerint 1978 óta legalább tíz alkalommal vették őrizetbe.
A vietnami hatóságok az utóbbi hónapokban erőteljesebben felléptek a másként gondolkodókkal szemben a kommunista párt januári tisztújító kongresszusa előtt, amely megválasztja az ország új vezetését az elkövetkező öt évre.

Az indokínai ország az elmúlt évek legsúlyosabb áradásaival küzd. Az október eleje óta tartó heves esőzések okozta árvizek és sárlavinák legkevesebb 64 ember halálát okozták eddig Vietnam középső részében, ahol a következő napokban is még nagy mennyiségű csapadékra kell számítani.
A földcsuszamlás a 4. katonai körzet egyik egységének épületeire zúdult – közölte a kormány a weboldalára feltett hivatalos közleményben, alig néhány nappal azután, hogy egy másik földcsuszamlás 13 embert sodort el, többségükben katonákat a szomszédos Thua Thien Hue tartományban.
„Újabb álmatlan éjszakánk volt” – mondta újságíróknak, láthatóan megrendülve Phan Van Giang, a védelmi miniszter helyettese.
