Кілька військових баз США в Європі були переведені в стан підвищеної бойової готовності на вихідних на тлі побоювань щодо можливої терористичної атаки.
Про це агентству Reuters повідомили два американських чиновники.
Бази, в тому числі гарнізон армії США в Штутгарті (Німеччина), де розташована штаб-квартира Європейського командування США, в неділю підняли рівень захисту до другого за значенням стану «Чарлі».
Цей статус застосовується, коли «відбувається інцидент або отримуються розвідувальні дані, що вказують на ймовірність терористичних дій або нападу на особовий склад або обʼєкти».
Один з американських чиновників, який перебуває на базі в Європі, сказав CNN, що вони не бачили такого рівня загрози «щонайменше 10 років», і зазвичай це означає, що військові отримали «активно-надійну загрозу».
Наразі не зрозуміло, які саме розвідувальні дані спричинили посилені заходи безпеки, але європейська влада попереджала про потенційну терористичну загрозу на континенті, особливо напередодні Олімпійських ігор у Парижі в липні й під час цьогорічного Чемпіонату Європи з футболу в Німеччині.
