На другому тижні вересня Управління радіаційної та ядерної безпеки Норвегії зафіксувало сліди радіоактивного цезію-137 на кордоні з Росією.
Про це повідомляє The Barents Observer.
Радіоактивність була виміряна у повітряних фільтрах у Віксйоф’єллі та Сванховді. Її походження досі невідоме. Управління радіаційної та ядерної безпеки Норвегії стверджує, що кількість цезію є „дуже низькою”.
Згадані фільтри аналізуються у підрозділі готовності до надзвичайних ситуацій раз на тиждень. Радіоактивний цезій-137 з’явився десь між 9 і 12 вересня. Бредо Мьоллер з відділу готовності до надзвичайних ситуацій у Сванховді каже, що хвилюватися не варто.
„Рівні явно вищі за норму, але не становлять небезпеки для людей або довкілля. Ми виявили 5 мкБк/м3 на фільтрувальній станції у Сванховді на 37-му тижні (9-16 вересня), і ми виміряли таку саму концентрацію (5 мкБк/м3) на фільтрувальній станції у Віксйоф’єллі на 36-37 тижні (5-12 вересня)”, – розповів Мьоллер.
Він повідомив, що Управління радіаційної та ядерної безпеки проведе додаткові аналізи протягом наступних кількох днів. У відомстві кажуть, що під час дослідження фільтрів не було виявлено інших радіоактивних ізотопів. Також невідомо, чи мають якісь вимірювання на російському боці кордону подібні результати.
Жоден інший фільтр у північній Норвегії чи фінській Лапландії не виявив пік цезію за останній тиждень.
Зазначається, що цезій-137 утворюється як продукт поділу в результаті роботи ядерного реактора.

У середу, після майже тижневих пошуків уздовж 1400-кілометрової автомагістралі, австралійська поліція знайшла зниклу раніше радіоактивну капсулу – повідомив керівник місцевого управління з питань надзвичайних ситуацій.
Міністр Стівен Доусон (Stephen Dawson) повідомив, що армія оглядає радіологічний пристрій, і в четвер його буде перевезено до безпечного об’єкту в Перті. Політик підкреслив, що з огляду на розміри досліджуваної території, знайти об’єкт – величезне завдання. Пошукові команди дійсно знайшли голку в копиці сіна – додав він.
„ Випромінювання капсули було виявлено з оснащеного спеціальним детектором автомобіля, який рухався зі швидкістю 70 кілометрів на годину” – заявили в Управлінні з надзвичайних ситуацій штату Західна Австралія. Після цього співробітники відомства, фахівці з радіації та інші особи прочесали обрану ділянку шосе в пошуках крихітної капсули, яка загубилася під час транспортування.
Капсула була частиною приладу, який використовувався для вимірювання щільності подачі залізної руди з шахти Гудай-Даррі компанії Rio Tinto в штаті Кімберлі. Вантаж призначався для об’єкта на околиці Перта – відстань більша, ніж перетин Британії з півночі на південь.
Зникнення капсули було помічено 25 січня, коли вантаж прибув до місця призначення – на склад. Офіційні особи заявили, що капсула, ймовірно, випала з вантажівки на узбіччя дороги.
Він додав, що малоймовірно, що забруднення вплинуло на цю територію.
Срібна капсула діаметром 6 міліметрів і довжиною 8 міліметрів містить цезій-137, який випромінює радіацію, еквівалентну 10 рентгенам на годину.
