Американські винищувачі знищили ще один непізнаний об’єкт, цього разу над озером Гурон поблизу американського штату Мічиган у неділю. Конгресмен від штату Мічиган Джек Бергман, посилаючись на Міністерство оборони, повідомив на своїй сторінці в соціальній мережі в неділю вдень за місцевим часом, що американські військові „демонтували” об’єкт над озером Гурон і подякував пілотам ВПС США.
Акцію в районі озера Гурон засвідчили урядовці, не повідомивши подробиць. Уранці в неділю Федеральне управління цивільної авіації тимчасово заборонило рух цивільних літаків над озером Мічиган, проте заборону незабаром було скасовано. Агентство пояснило свої дії тим, що військові розслідували „потенційний контакт”, який, за їхніми словами, „не становив жодного ризику”. У суботу аналогічна акція була проведена над штатом Монтана, що пізніше пояснили як радіолокаційну аномалію.
Недільна інтервенція над озером Гурон стала четвертим випадком за вісім днів, коли ВПС знищили літак над Північною Америкою. У суботу, на прохання Канади, ВПС США збили над північно-західною провінцією Юкон непізнаний висотний літак.
Американські офіційні особи заявили в суботу, що Північноамериканське аерокосмічне командування (Norad), яке відповідає за протиповітряну оборону як Канади, так само, як і США, виявило об’єкт у вечірні години п’ятниці, а через день він увійшов у повітряний простір Канади. Речник Нораду майор Олів’є Галлант сказав – військові визначили, що це був за об’єкт, але не розголошує деталей.
Днем раніше, в п’ятницю, літак ВПС США F-22 також провів подібну операцію в цьому регіоні, збивши в повітряному просторі США біля північного узбережжя Аляски непізнаний літак, який, за його словами, становив загрозу для цивільного повітряного сполучення.
Тиждень тому, в суботу, 4 лютого, Сполучені Штати знищили великий апарат, ідентифікований як китайський аеростат-розвідник, поблизу східного узбережжя країни після того, як він дрейфував у повітряному просторі США близько восьми днів.
