У Сполучених Штатах Національний центр ураганів офіційно заявив, що вичерпав перелік традиційних назв атлантичних штормів до кінця цього особливо активного сезону ураганів, після формування тропічної бурі „Вілфред” (Wilfred).
„Ми офіційно переходимо на грецький алфавіт для позначення нових штормів. Лише вдруге в історії використовуватимемо грецький алфавіт. 2005 рік був першим”, – повідомили вчені.
У п’ятницю шторм під назвою „Альфа” прорвався біля західного узбережжя Португалії, на щастя, не завдавши великих збитків.
Тим часом метрологи повідомили про формування шторму „Бета” над Мексиканською затокою.
У наступний період Бета вирушить до південних берегів США і спричинить штормову погоду, а також сильні, проливні дощі. Швидкість найсильніших поривів вітру під час шторму наблизиться до 100 км / год, і прогнозується посилення урагану до категорії 1 до вечора в понеділок.
Уздовж узбереж Техасу та Луїзіани діє штормове попередження: в найближчі дні очікується 200-300, а подекуди може випасти до 500 мм опадів, і буря може спричинити штормовий приплив.
