A korábbi tájékoztatások alapján a hat halálos áldozat többsége latin-amerikai születésű munkás volt, aki a katasztrófa éjszakáján a Francis Scott hídon útfelületet javította. Az építmény összeomlása akkor következett be, amikor szünetet tartottak, és ezért a járműben tartózkodtak.
A kutatóegységek munkája mellett elkezdték a hídroncsok eltávolításának előkészítését is, amelynek legnehezebb része a közlések szerint a hatalmas acélszerkezet kiemelése lesz.
Szerdán a Fehér Ház sajtótájékoztatóján Pete Buttigieg szövetségi közlekedésügyi miniszter arról beszélt, hogy a híd újjáépítése „nem lesz egyszerű és olcsó, valamint hosszú folyamatra kell számítani. A munka menetével kapcsolatban elmondta, hogy először a híd roncsait távolítják el, majd a katasztrófát okozó hajót. Hozzátette, hogy Baltimore kikötőjének újranyitásának időpontját egyelőre nem látni, a hídomlás miatt mintegy 100 millió dollár értékű áru rekedt a kikötőben.
Az elnöki hivatal tájékoztatóján a Parti Őrség műveleti parancsnok-helyettese arról beszélt, hogy a kikötőt mintegy tucatnyi kereskedelmi hajó nem tudja elhagyni. Peter Gautier a vizsgálattal kapcsolatban elmondta, hogy a megsérült és meghibásodott Dali, konténerszállító legénysége változatlanul a fedélzeten tartózkodik és együttműködik a hatóságokkal.
Hozzátette, hogy a hajótestet átvizsgálták és nem találtak a vízszint alatti sérülést, valamint veszélyes anyag sem került a tengerbe, jóllehet a fedélzeten szállított 4700 konténerből 56 veszélyes küldeményt tartalmaz. Szintén szerdán Jannet Yellen pénzügyminiszter pontosította Joe Biden elnök keddi szavait, miszerint szándéka szerint a szövetségi költségvetés az újjáépítés minden költségét állni fogja. A pénzügyminiszter az MSNBC televíziónak többi között úgy nyilatkozott, hogy a kétpárti kongresszusi támogatással elfogadott infrastrukturális beruházásokról szóló törvény potenciálisan segítség lehet, és hozzátette, hogy a biztosítási összegek is hozzájárulhatnak a helyreállításhoz.
Wes Moore,kormányzó szerdai sajtótájékoztatóján a hídszerencsétlenség gazdasági hatását „globális válságnak” nevezte, mert nem csak az ország, hanem a világ gazdasága is függ Baltimore tengeri kikötőjétől, ami az Egyesült Államokban a legtöbb autót és mezőgazdasági felszerelést továbbító kikötő.

Összeomlott egy háromkilométeres híd egy része kedd hajnalban az amerikai Baltimore-ban, miután nekiütközött egy teherszállító hajó, több gépjármű a vízbe zuhant – közölték a helyi hatóságok.
Áldozatokról egyelőre nem érkeztek jelentések. Maryland állam tűzoltósága az incidenst tömegbalesetnek nevezte, információik szerint jelenleg legkevesebb hét embert keresnek a Patapsco folyó vízében.
Helyi idő szerint hajnal fél 2-kor csapódott egy teherhajó a baltimore-i Francis Scott Key hídnak, az ütközést követően a hajótest kigyulladt, majd elsüllyedt.
A baltimore-i rendőrség szerint egy tömbház bulijában kitört lövöldözés két ember halálát okozta, 28-an megsebesültek. A rendőrség közlése szerint még keresik az elkövetőt.
A baltimore-i rendőrség megerősítette, hogy tömeges lövöldözés történt a Gretna Avenue 800-as tömbjében. Az áldozatok számát nem közölték azonnal.
De annyi biztos, hogy több halálos áldozat és több tucatnyi sérült volt a dél-baltimore-i Brooklyn Homes területén, a rendőrség és a mentőszolgálat nagy erőkkel vonult ki a területre – írja az AP.
A CNN információi szerint kilenc embert szállítottak kórházakba, három sérült állapota válságos.
