Súlyos adatszivárgás történt a Credit Suisse-nél, a vasárnap nyilvánosságra hozott információk szerint a svájci pénzintézetnek állítólag évek óta ügyfelei voltak különböző korrupt, tekintélyelvű politikusok, kábítószerkereskedők, feltételezett háborús bűnösök és emberkereskedők.
A több mint harmincezer Credit Suisse-ügyfél banktitkait tartalmazó dokumentumok feldolgozását 46 hírlap – köztük a Süddeutsche Zeitung (SZ), a The Guardian, a Le Monde és a New York Times – nemzetközi konzorciuma végezte el a Szervezett Bűnözés és Korrupció Jelentési Projekt (OCCRP) támogatásával.
A Süddeutsche Zeitung szerint az adatszivárgás azt mutatja, hogy bűnözők számlákat nyithattak, illetve megtarthatták meglévő számláikat annak ellenére, hogy „a bank már régóta tudhatta, hogy jogsértőkkel van dolga”.
A pénzintézet vasárnap vehemensen tagadta állásfoglalásában a vádakat, azt írták: „a beszámoló… hiányos, pontatlan, illetve szelektív – szövegkörnyezetből kiragadott – információkon alapul, ami a bank üzleti tevékenysége részrehajló megítéléséhez vezet”.
A Credit Suisse hangsúlyozta, hogy az esetek többségében régi, még az 1940-es évekig visszanyúló ügyekről van szó, és a lapok által hivatkozott számlák 90 százalékát már bezárták. „Vizsgálni fogjuk az ügyet, és szükség esetén további intézkedéseket teszünk” – tette hozzá a bank.
A belső banki adatok szerint az ügyfélkörhöz számos állam- és kormányfő, miniszter, hírszerzési szolgálat vezetője, oligarcha és kardinális tartozik. A lapok által hivatkozott, névtelenséget kérő kiszivárogtató úgy fogalmazott, hogy a svájci banktitok szerinte erkölcstelen. „A pénzügyi titok ürügye mindössze egy fügelevél, hogy eltakarják ezzel a svájci bankok szégyenletes együttműködői szerepét az adócsalókkal” – mondta a forrás.
Mint ismeretes, a Credit Suisse vádlottként szerepel abban a perben, amelyben állítólag több millió eurót mosott tisztára az intézmény pénztárán keresztül egy bolgár kábítószer-kereskedő.
