Legalább nyolc ember vesztette életét, és tizenöten megsérültek egy robbanásban India fővárosában, Delhiben, a Vörös Erőd metróállomás közelében – jelentette a News 18 televízió.
A csatorna szerint a robbanás hétfő este történt az 1-es kijáratnál, amikor egy autó felrobbant. Három sérült állapota válságos, egyet stabilizáltak. A robbanásban több közeli jármű is kigyulladt és megrongálódott.
A hatóságok 15 tűzoltókocsit küldtek a helyszínre, a rendőrség pedig lezárta az egész környéket. A városvezetés fokozott készültséget rendelt el. A robbanás okát egyelőre vizsgálják.
A Vörös Erőd környéke Ódelhi egyik leglátogatottabb turisztikai területe.

Kilépett a medréből egy csatorna Delhiben és elöntötte az indiai város északnyugati részét. Nemrég még vízhiányban szenvedett a környék, aztán a heves esőzések miatt beomlott a repülőtér teteje, az elmúlt hétben Nepálból lezúduló víztömeg pedig árvizeket okoz. A mostani áradásnak nincsenek még áldozatai, a korábbiaknak viszont több tucat.
Északnyugat-Delhi egyes részeit csütörtökön elöntötte a víz, miután átszakadt egy csatorna, amely egy közeli államból szállít vizet, és javítási munkálatok folynak, hogy minimalizálják a hatásokat – közölte egy magas rangú helyi tisztviselő a közösségi médiában. A Reuters szemléje szerint a főváros lakói az elmúlt két hónapban számos szélsőséges időjárási eseményt éltek át, a perzselő hőmérséklettől kezdve az áradásokon át a heves esőzésekig, amelyek miatt a város repülőterén például beomlott a tető.
Ma kora reggel a Munak-csatorna egyik alágában történt egy áttörés. A vizet átirányították a csatorna másik alágába – közölte Atishi, delhi vízügyi minisztere az X-en.
Az ANI hírügynökség képi anyagai azt mutatták, hogy a lakosok térdig érő sáros vízben gázolnak az északnyugat-delhi Bawana kerületben. A Munak-csatorna a Jamuna folyón fekszik, Delhi északnyugati, Haryana állammal közös határának közelében, amely szintén használja a csatornát. A legutóbbi áradásnál eddig nem jelentettek áldozatokat.
Delhi egyes részei a közelmúltban súlyos vízhiánytól szenvedtek a rekordmeleg nyár után, és Atishi rövid éhségsztrájkba kezdett, hogy több vizet követeljen a városnak. Delhi vízellátásának nagy részét a fővároson keresztülfolyó Jamuna folyóból nyeri, amely egy évvel ezelőtt a heves esőzések után megáradt. India keleti részén, Bihar államban több folyó is közel áll ahhoz, hogy kilépjen medréből, mivel a víz a szomszédos Nepálból áramlik lefelé, amelynek egyes részeit a hét elején szintén elöntötte a víz.
Az ország keleti részén fekvő Assamban a heves esőzések az elmúlt hetekben árvizeket okoztak, amelyekben legalább 79 ember meghalt és több ezren kényszerültek lakóhelyüket elhagyni.
