Álmában harapott meg egy férfit egy denevér idén nyáron az Egyesült Államokban találtható Illinois államban. A férfi hetekkel később belehalt a betegségbe – írja a CBS.
Ritka halálesetről számolt be Illinois Állam Közegészségügyi részlege, mely szerint 1954 után ismét veszettségbe halt meg egy ember az államban. Az eset egy nyolcvanas éveiben járó férfival történt, aki még augsztusban arra ébredt, hogy egy denevér ül a nyakán. Miután a denevér megharapta a férfi nyakát, ezért veszettség ellen tesztelték az állatot, melynek eredménye pozitív lett.
A férfi pár héttel később kezdte érezni a tipikus veszettségi tüneteket magán, azaz fájt a nyaka, feje, zsibbadtak a karjai, és nehezen tudott beszélni. Ezt követően a férfi meghalt.
Dr. Ngozi Ezike, az Illinoisi Közegészségügyi Főosztályának igazgató arra figyelmeztetett mindenkit, hogy a veszettség magas halálozási aránnyal jár, éppen ezért nagyon fontos a megelőzés, ha veszett állattal kerültünk kapcsolatba. az idejében beadott veszettség elleni injekcióval életet lehet menteni.
