Kína nem engedi, hogy az ENSZ egészségügyi szervezete, a WHO részt vegyen a koronavírus eredetét kutató kínai vizsgálatban – ezt mondta a Sky Newsnak dr. Gauden Galea, a WHO Kínába delegált képviselője.
Galea szerint a világszervezet többször is kérte, hogy a WHO szakértői is részt vehessenek a kormány vizsgálatában, a kínai hatóságok viszont érveket sem hoztak fel, egyszerűen elutasították a kérést.
Galea szerint nagyon fontos lenne azt kideríteni, honnan indult a SARS-CoV-2 vírus, pontosan hogyan is terjedt át állatokról emberekre azért, hogy elkerülhessük a járvány visszatérését vagy azt, hogy ugyanez a folyamat később más vírusokkal lejátszódva újabb világjárványokat okozzon. Mindez azt is jelenti, hogy a WHO meggyőződése szerint állatokról emberekre terjedve okozott járványt a koronavírusnak ez a fajtája. Az amerikai kormány viszont a hírek szerint egy másik elméletnek szeretne utána járni, az amerikai titkosszolgálatok ugyanis, Trump köreinek hathatós nyomására, azt kezdték vizsgálni, hogy köze lehet-e a járványnak a vuhani víruslaboratóriumhoz, vagyis a laborból egy baleset folytán kiszabadulva terjedt-e el a fertőzés.
Dr. Galea a Sky News kérdésére elmondta, a WHO nem tudta megvizsgálni a Vuhanban található két virológiai labor adatait és feljegyzéseit. Hozzátette, hogy a szervezet szakértői meg vannak győződve, hogy a vírus természetes úton alakult ki Vuhanban, nem egy laboratóriumban létrehozott kórokozóról van szó, a laborok adatainak szerepelnie kellene a járvány kezdeteit feltáró jelentésben.
Korábban már többször fölmerült, hogy egy nyílt, lehetőleg a kínai kormánytól független vizsgálatot kellene indítani a járvány kialakulásáról. Az ausztrál kormány javasolt például egy ilyen vizsgálatra, amelyet állítólag több európai kormány is hajlandó lenne támogatni. A kínai kormány képviselői viszont határozottan és indulatosan visszautasítottak minden ilyen felvetést.
