Egy elbocsátott tengerészkadét nyitott tüzet az Egyesült Államok Haditengerészeti Akadémiájának kollégiumában Annapolisban csütörtökön, a felsőoktatási intézmény teljes területét lezárták – közölte az akadémia illetékese.
Az akadémiától származó közlések szerint a volt hallgató többeket megsebesített, legkevesebb egy embert súlyos állapotban helikopterrel vittek kórházba. A helyszíni televíziós beszámolók szerint komoly hatósági készültség van az intézmény területén.
Szintén helyi források közölték, hogy a tengerészkadét behatolt a kollégium épületébe a Bancroft Hallba, és ott nyitott tüzet. További információk szerint a volt diák magát katonai rendőrnek mondva kopogtatott a lakószobák ajtaján.
Naweed Lemar, az intézményhez kapcsolódó támaszpont illetékese elmondta, hogy a helyi rendőrséggel közösen intézkednek az akadémia biztonságát fenyegető ügyben.
