A helyi hatóságok repülőgépeket és helikoptereket küldtek a mentéshez. A legénység két tucatnyi tagja valószínűleg életét vesztette – közölte szombaton a hongkongi mentőszolgálat.
A 30 fős legénységből helyi idő szerint szombat délután fél hatig csupán három embert találtak meg. A hongkongi kormány repülőszolgálata által közzétett fotókon látható, amint – nagy hullámcsapások közepette – a legénység egyik tagját mentőhelikopterre emelik.
A baleset Hongkongtól mintegy 300 kilométerre délre történt. A repülőszolgálat nem közölte a hajó nevét vagy eredetét. Közleményében azt írta, hogy a legénység tagjai a Chaba nevű súlyos trópusi vihar okozta nehézségekkel küszködtek, a vihar maximális szélsebessége elérheti az óránkénti 109 kilométert is – számolt be az NBC News.
A vihar szombaton később elérte a part menti Guangdong tartomány nyugati részét. A hongkongi szolgálat két merev szárnyú repülőgépet és négy helikoptert küldött a mentési munkálatokhoz.

Elsüllyedt csütörtök hajnalban a viharos Fekete-tengeren egy teherhajó, a román partok közelében – közölte az Agerpres hírügynökségre hivatkozva az MTI.
A Volgo Balt 179 segítségkérését a GSP Falcon román teherhajó észlelte. A román hajó azonnal a helyszínre sietett, és a 13 fős legénység tíz tagját kimentette a tengerből. Az ukrán állampolgárokból álló legénység egy tagja eltűnt, két tagja életét vesztette, egy ukrán nőt, miután az állapota súlyosabbra fordult helikopterrel szállították Konstancára.
Oroszország bukaresti nagykövetsége csütörtökön pontosította, hogy a Volgo Balt 179 nem orosz zászló alatt hajózott, amint azt korábban a román hírforrások közölték, hanem a Comore szigetek zászlaja alatt. Román hírforrások szerint a 48 éve épített teherhajó szenet szállított Romániába.
A baleset Konstanca kikötőjétől mintegy 70 tengeri mérföldre (130 km) történt, a nemzetközi vizeken. Amint a hírügynökség közölte, csütörtök hajnalban rendkívül viharos volt a tenger. A víz fölött óránként 50 kilométeres sebességgel fújt a szél, négy méteres hullámokat verve.
Az eltűnt tengerészt még keresik a román hatóságok.

Két helikoptert is bevetettek január 18-án az öt matróz keresésére az Arvin ukrán száraz teherszállító hajóról, amely előző nap elsüllyedt a török Bartin tartomány partjainál, közölte az Ukrinform tudósítója a kormányzó helyettes nyilatkozatára hivatkozva, amelyet Andrij Szibiha ukrán nagykövettel való találkozása során tett.
„Két helikopter vesz részt a kutatási és mentési műveletben, amelyet helyi idő szerint reggel 8 órától (kijevi idő szerint 07:00 óra) folytatnak – egyet a parti őrség, egyet – a török haditengerészet”.
Szibiha a maga részéről megköszönte a török tartomány vezetésének, a mentőknek és az orvosoknak, hogy gyors és szakszerű segítséget nyújtottak az ukrán tengerészeknek. A helyzetet az időjárási viszonyok mellett bonyolítja az a tény, hogy azon a területen, ahol a hajó elsüllyedt, nincs partvonal – sziklák vannak.
A megmentett tengerészeket hétfőn hallgatta ki az ügyész. A török orvosok elmondták, hogy a matrózok egészségi állapota kielégítő. Ukrajna ankarai konzulja, Andrij Bilik is velük van Bartinban. Ezen kívül azonosítják az egyik halott tengerész holttestét.
A túlélőket meglátogatta a kórházban Bartin tartomány kormányzója.
