Kettőszáz lengyel bányász vonult fel Varsóban az európai energiapolitika ellen tüntetve, a munkahelyeik védelmében.
A bányászok azt kiabálták, „állítsuk meg Brüsszelt, nem akarunk a munkahelyek elvesztésével járó energiaforradalmat”, miközben az Európai Bizottság varsói képviseletének épülete elé vonultak.
A demonstrációt a szakszervezetek; az „IGEN Lengyelország energiaszuverenitására, NEM a magas energiaárakra” jelszóval hirdették meg.
„Energiaátalakítás? Igen, de tisztességes feltételek mellett! Nyugodtan, lassan. Úgy, hogy minden megszűnő munkahelyet, egy kapcsolódó iparágban lévő munkahellyel pótoljanak. Ahol hasonló a jövedelem, presztizs, és a tisztelet. És nem valami alacsonyabb rendű munkakörrel” – követelte a tüntetés vezérszónoka.
A szakszervezeti vezetők szerint az EU energiapolitikája árt a lengyel gazdaságnak.
A Szolidaritás Párt parlamenti képviselője a bányászok mellé állt.
„A lengyelek nem mennek bele az energiaárak drasztikus emelésébe. Energiafüggetlenségünk saját erőforrásokra épül. Lengyelországnak van szene, és ebből kell energiát, hőt termelnünk” – érvelt Janusz Kowalski.
A szénipar jelentős munkaadó Lengyelországban, ahol az elektromos energia több mint felét fekete- és barnaszénből nyerik.
A Glasgow-i klímacsúcson a lengyel küldött kijelentette, 2050-ig nem fogják tudni bezárni az összes széntüzelésű erőművet.
