Felségsértés gyanújával idézték be a rendőrségre a thaiföldi tiltakozások 12 szervezőjét – közölte a Thaiföldi Emberi Jogi Ügyvédek Szövetsége szerdán.
A délkelet-ázsiai országban a világ egyik legszigorúbb felségsértési törvénye van érvényben, amely 15 év börtönnel fenyegeti a királyi család legenyhébb bírálatát is. A demokráciapárti tiltakozások egyik fő követelése pedig a királyi udvar pénzügyeinek átláthatóvá tétele és a király politikai jogköreinek korlátozása.
„Mit akar ez jelenteni? Hogy a monarchia totális háborút hirdetett a nép ellen?” – tette fel a kérdést a Pingvin becenévre hallgató egyik szervező, Parit Csivarak, akit szintén beidéztek a hatóságok.
„Ettől csak még többen mennek majd ki az utcára” – figyelmeztetett.
A tiltakozók szerdára újabb demonstrációt hirdettek, eredetileg a királyi vagyonkezelő épületéhez, de – hogy elkerüljék az összecsapásokat a királypárti ellentüntetőkkel – megváltoztatták a helyszínt, és a Sziámi Kereskedelmi Bank épületéhez vonulnak. Ez az ország egyik legnagyobb pénzintézete, amelynek alanyi jogon a király az egyik fő részvényese.
A királyi vagyonkezelő azért került a reformokat követelő tiltakozások célkeresztjébe, mert egyrészt ez kezeli a királyi udvar vagyonát, másrészt az uralkodó törvényt fogadtatott el arról, hogy az alap az ő kizárólagos ellenőrzése alatt áll. Korábban a vagyonkezelőt legalább névleg a pénzügyminisztérium irányította. Szakértők becslése szerint a vagyonkezelő 30 és 60 milliárd dollár közötti (9112–18 224 milliárd forint) eszközzel rendelkezik, amivel a thaiföldi uralkodócsalád az egyik leggazdagabb a világon.
A júliusban kezdődött tiltakozások egyre jobban elfajultak, és a feszültség egyre nő Bangkokban. A múlt héten a rendőrség könnygázzal és vízágyúval oszlatta a tüntetőket, Prajuth Csan-Ocsa miniszterelnök pedig közölte, hogy a rendelkezésre álló összes törvényes eszközt felhasználják a demonstrálókkal szemben.
