Az amerikai John McCain rombolóhajó két kilométer mélyen behatolt orosz területi vizekre, a Japán-tengeren, a Nagy Péter-öbölben, majd kiszorította onnan az Admiral Vinogradov nagy tengeralattjáró-elhárító hajó – közölte kedden az orosz védelmi minisztérium.
A tárca szerint a John McCain, amely már több napja a Japán-tengeren tartózkodott, kedd reggel hatolt be az orosz területi vizekre. Az Admiral Vinogradov figyelmeztette az amerikai hadihajót, hogy manővere elfogadhatatlan, és kilátásba helyezte az ütközés lehetőségét. A moszkvai beszámoló szerint a figyelmeztetést és az orosz hajónak az amerikai felé tartó irányváltását követően a John McCain azonnal a nemzetközi vizekre távozott, és több behatolási kísérletet nem hajtott végre. A tárca közölte, hogy az Admiral Vinogradov közvetlenül az amerikai hajó közelében teljesít feladatokat, és a térségbe vezényelték az orosz Csendes-óceáni Flotta Szoversennij korvettjét.
