Az állami tévé híradása szerint Fucsou nagyváros közelében egy tűzoltóautó nyolc emberrel a fedélzetén egy folyóba zuhant. Három embert kimentettek, de a hatóságok szerint öt embert még mindig keresnek, a mentés folyamatban van.
A Haikui, az idei tizenegyedik nevesített vihar, a dél-kínai Fucsien és Kuangtung tartományt érintette – jelentette a Hszinhua állami hírügynökség a helyi hatóságokra hivatkozva. Az iskolák és óvodák elővigyázatosságból kedden egyes területeken zárva maradtak.
A kínai szárazföld elérése előtt a Haikui először Tajvan felett haladt el, ahol a tajvani vészhelyzeti központ hétfői jelentése szerint több mint 100 ezer ember megsérült, és mintegy 260 ezer háztartásban nem volt áram, továbbá körülbelül 8 ezer lakosnak kellett elhagynia az otthonát.

Az előrejelzések szerint a ciklon a sziget gyéren lakott hegyvidéki részét helyi idő szerint vasárnap délután érheti el. A térség településein bezárták az iskolákat és a munkáltatók szabadnapot adtak minden dolgozónak.
Caj Jing-ven tajvani elnök a katasztrófavédelem munkatársaival szervezett megbeszélésen hangsúlyozta, hogy négy éve ez az első tájfun, amely partot érve átvonul a sziget központi, hegyvidéki szakaszán.
Az elnöki hivatal közleménye szerint nem tanácsos a hegyekbe vagy a tengerpartra menni, halászni vagy vízi sportokat űzni.
A Haikui sokkal gyengébb ciklon, mint a Hongkongot és Kuangtung dél-kínai tartományt szombaton elért Saola tájfun. A Haikui 1-es vagy 2-es kategóriájú tájfun lesz partot éréskor a Tropical Storm Risk adatai szerint.
Tajvan két nagy belföldi légitársasága, az UNI Air és a Mandarin Airlines valamennyi vasárnapi járatát törölte, és a környező szigeteket érintő kompjáratokat is felfüggesztették.
