 Tragikus hajótörés történt a krétai Lerapetra közelében, 26 tengeri mérföldre délre Chrissi szigetétől, amikor egy migránsokat szállító hajó felborult.
 
 A csónakot félig elsüllyedve találta meg egy török zászló alatt közlekedő teherhajó.
 A görög hatóságok szerint a parti őrség két hajója, a Frontex egyik hajója, három parti hajó, valamint egy Super Puma helikopter és egy Frontex repülőgép azonnal a helyszínre sietett, hogy felkutassák az eltűnteket.
 A görög parti őrség szerint 18 embert holtan találtak, míg két utast élve találtak meg és mentettek ki.
 A parti őrség szerint további eltűntek nincsenek, a keresési és mentési művelet pedig mostanra befejeződött, mivel nem merült fel további utasokra utaló nyom.
 A hajó felborulásának vagy elsüllyedésének körülményei egyelőre tisztázatlanok.
