Kedd reggel robbanás rázta meg egy római katolikus szentély környékét Ugandában, éppen akkor, amikor a hívek a keresztényüldözések mártírjaira emlékeztek. A detonációt egy pokolgép okozta – számolt be az Origo.
Pokolgépet robbantott két támadó egy római katolikus szentély közelében kedd reggel az ugandai fővárosban, Kampalában. A helyi sajtó jelentése szerint két ember meghalt.
A támadás idején a hívek éppen gyülekeztek a szentély környékén a XIX. századi keresztényüldözésekre emlékező mártírok napja alkalmából. A Daily Monitor és a New Vision című lap két halottról adott hírt. A robbanás után a környéket lezárták.
Az ugandai hadsereg szóvivője az X-en azt írta, egy terrorellenes alakulat reggel elfogott és ártalmatlanított két fegyveres terroristát Munyonyo városrészben.
Hozzátette: a biztonsági erőket magas készültségbe helyezték, hogy a mártírok napi megemlékezések fennakadás nélkül folytatódhassanak.
Az ugandai rendőrfőkapitány egy videóban azt közölte: két ember követte el a robbantást egy motorbiciklivel. Azt nem pontosította, hogy mi lett a sorsa a támadóknak, de azt kiemelte, hogy szerencsére nem voltak emberek a közelben, és nincsenek más áldozatok.
A támadás elkövetőjeként egyelőre senki sem jelentkezett.

Katolikus templomokat, köztük a magyar közösség egyik templomát is megrongálták ismeretlen tettesek Kanadában. A támadásoknak közük lehet ahhoz, hogy az utóbbi hetekben indián gyermekek földi maradványait találták meg olyan telkeken, ahol évtizedekkel korábban bentlakásos iskolák működtek őslakos gyerekeknek.
„Gyermekek voltunk, de a mi életünk is számított” – festették vandálok több kanadai templom falára helyi idő szerint csütörtökre virradóan Calgary városában, Alberta tartományban. A feliratok mellett – a gyerekekre emlékezve, egyfajta szimbólumként – vörös és narancssárga festékkel kéznyomatokat is hagytak az elkövetők, némely templomban az ablakokat is betörték. A hívek elkezdték a templomok helyreállítását.
A csütörtök délután közzétett rendőrségi jelentés szerint tíz keresztény templomot rongáltak meg vandálok, az egyik az Árpád-házi Szent Erzsébet plébánia (St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church) volt, amely egyike az összesen tizenegy, Kanadában működő magyar katolikus templomnak. A Magyar Nemzet felvette a kapcsolatot a plébániával, de megkeresésünkre egyelőre nem kaptunk választ.
– Megértettük az üzenetet, és szomorúan hallottuk, hogy ez történt a plébániánkkal – nyilatkozta a Boldogságos Szűz Mária Mennybemenetele ukrán katolikus templom plébánosa. – Tudjuk, hogy ez nem személyes ügy, megértjük és átérezzük az őslakosok fájdalmát. Annyit tehetünk, hogy továbbra is imádkozunk a gyászolókért és azokért, akik eltávoztak – tette hozzá.
A vandálok azután rongálták meg a katolikus templomokat, hogy az elmúlt hetekben több mint ezer jelöletlen sírra bukkantak olyan helyeken, ahol korábban az őslakos indiánoknak fenntartott bentlakásos iskolák álltak Saskatchewan és Brit Columbia tartományokban. A bentlakásos iskolák 1831 és 1996 között működtek asszimilációs céllal, a becslések szerint ebben az időszakban mintegy 150 ezer gyermeket szakítottak el családjuktól. Az őslakos fiatalok gyakran nyomorúságos körülmények között éltek, és többeket bántalmaztak vagy szexuálisan kihasználtak. Jelenlegi ismereteink szerint legalább 3200 gyermek vesztette életét ezekben az intézményekben, többségük betegségben hunyt el.
Justin Trudeau kanadai miniszterelnök már korábban bocsánatot kért az elődök erőszakos asszimilációs politikájáért, amelyet károsnak nevezett. A politikus arra kérte a katolikus egyház fejét, Ferenc pápát, hogy utazzon Kanadába, és kérjen ő is bocsánatot a katolikus egyház nevében. Trudeau kiemelte: nemcsak a bocsánatkérés lenne fontos, hanem az is, hogy az Kanadában történjen meg, közvetlenül a kanadai őslakosok színe előtt. A pápa fájdalommal és együttérzéssel fogadta a beszámolókat, de egyelőre nem követte meg az őslakosokat.
– Történelmünk ezen szakasza komoly károkat okozott az őslakos közösségnek, így érthető a feszültség és a felfokozott érzelmek – közölte a helyi rendőrség, mondván: az ő kötelességük is, hogy foglalkozzanak ezzel a generációs traumával, amelyen közös erőfeszítéssel kerekedhet felül a közösség. A rendőrség kiemelte ugyanakkor, hogy a vandalizmus illegális cselekedet, így az elkövetők felkutatása és a nyomozati munka is elkezdődött. A tettesek elfogása mellett a hasonló esetek megelőzése fontos célja a hatóságnak – közölték.
Nem ez volt az első eset, hogy a jelöletlen sírok feltárása után templomokat rongáltak meg vandálok Kanadában. Szerdán például a szintén Alberta tartományban található Morinville-i Szent Jean Baptiste templom égett le tűz miatt. A múlt hétvégén két katolikus templom vált a tűz martalékává Kanada nyugati részén, Brit Columbia tartományban, egy olyan körzetben, ahol többségében őslakosok élnek. Ezt megelőzően néhány nappal ugyancsak Brit Columbiában gyújtottak fel két templomot.

Újabb két katolikus templom vált a tűz martalékává Kanada nyugati részén, Brit Columbia tartományban, egy olyan körzetben, ahol többségében őslakosok élnek.
A tűzesetek Vancouvertől bő 300 kilométerre keletre történtek, Upper és Lower Similkameen településeken. A rendőrség közlése szerint a Szent Annáról elnevezett és a Chopaka-templomot is felgyújtották szombat hajnalban. Egyelőre vizsgálják, hogy van-e összefüggés a mostani két eset és egy egy héttel ezelőtti hasonló bűncselekmény között, amikor két másik templomot gyújtottak föl innen 50 kilométerre.
Néhány hete 215 indián gyermek földi maradványait találták meg a közelben egy olyan telken, ahol évtizedekkel korábban katolikus bentlakásos iskola működött őslakos gyerekek számára. A héten újabb hasonló esetre derült fény, egy Saskatchewan tartomány székhelyétől, Regina városától 140 kilométerre keletre található bentlakásos iskola területén legalább hatszáz, egyes források szerint hozzávetőleg 750 jelöletlen sírt találtak.
Mindkét eset óriási megrázkódtatást keltett az országban.
A katolikus egyház 1831-től egészen a közelmúltig, 1996-ig működtetett bentlakásos iskolákat Kanadában. Ez idő alatt összesen nagyjából 150 ezer őslakos gyermeket szakítottak el a családjától. Nagyon sokan közülük nyomorúságos körülmények között tengődtek, bántalmazták, szexuálisan kihasználták őket, és nagyon sokan alultápláltak voltak. A jelenlegi ismeretek szerint legalább 3200 gyermek vesztette életét az egyházi bentlakásos intézményekben, a többségük tuberkulózisban.
Justin Trudeau kanadai kormányfő bocsánatot kért az elődök erőszakos asszimilációs politikájáért, amelyet „károsnak” nevezett. A miniszterelnök személyesen arra kérte Ferenc pápát, hogy utazzon Kanadába, és kérjen bocsánatot a katolikus egyháznak az ügyben játszott szerepéért. Hangsúlyozta neki, hogy nemcsak a bocsánatkérés lenne fontos, hanem az is, hogy az Kanadában történjen meg, közvetlenül a kanadai őslakosok előtt. A pápa a közelmúltban fájdalmának adott hangot a kanadai katolikus iskolákban az őslakosok ellen elkövetett bűnök miatt, de az egyház nevében egyelőre nem kért bocsánatot.

Vélhetőleg öngyilkos merénylet történt az indonéziai Makassar egyik katolikus templománál vasárnap, többen megsebesültek – közölte a helyi rendőrség és egy szemtanú.
A hatóságok szerint a feltételezett merénylő meghalt a támadásban. A szélsőséges támadó motorbiciklin érkezett a templomhoz, ahol egy biztonsági őr feltartóztatta – mondta el egy helyi pap, aki szerint összesen tízen sebesültek meg, közülük többen súlyosan. A rendőrség kilenc sebesültről tud: öt templomszolgáról és négy hívőről.
A templomban számos hívő tartózkodott a robbanás idején a húsvétot megelőző nagyhét kezdetén – tette hozzá Dél-Celebesz rendőrségi szóvivője. A pusztítás teljes mértékét még nem tudni, de több autó megrongálódott. A rendőrség lezárta a környéket. A helyszínre mentőautók érkeztek.
A támadás elkövetőjeként egyelőre senki sem jelentkezett.
A támadást terrorcselekménynek minősítették. Az indonéziai vallásügyi miniszter elutasította a merényletet, az Indonéziai Egyházak Tanácsának vezetője pedig kegyetlen incidensnek nevezte azt.
Makassar polgármestere azt mondta: a robbanás sokkal több áldozatot is követelhetett volna, ha a főkapunál, és nem egy oldalajtónál kerül rá sor.
A vallásilag sokszínű Makassarban jelentős keresztény kisebbség él. A 260 millió lakosú Indonézia a világ legnagyobb muszlim országa, és a helyiek 88 százaléka muszlim vallású.
2018-ban az Iszlám Állam dzsihadista szervezethez kötődő Jamaah Ansharut Daulah nevű indonéziai szélsőséges csoport intézett támadást helyi templomok és egy rendőrségi ellenőrzőpont ellen Surabayában. Akkor több mint harmincan vesztették életüket.
A délkelet-ázsiai ország történetének legvéresebb iszlamista merényletére Bali turistaparadicsomban került sor 2002-ben. A támadók 202 emberrel végeztek, többségük külföldi volt. Az elmúlt években az indonéziai biztonsági erők sikerrel vették fel a harcot a szélsőségesekkel szemben. Azonban újabban egyre több incidensre kerül sor, miután számos helyi csatlakozott az Iszlám Államhoz a Közel-Keleten.
A hatóságok szerint két merénylő halt meg a támadásban. Vizsgálják, hogy milyen radikális csoporthoz tartozhattak a merénylők, és hogy a támadásnak köze lehet-e ahhoz, hogy a biztonsági erők a közelmúltban elfogtak több feltételezett szélsőségest – tette hozzá a szóvivő. A terrorelhárítás januárban razziát tartott a radikálisok egyik makassari rejtekhelyén. Az akcióban két emberrel végeztek, akiknek a rendőrség szerint közük lehetett egy Fülöp-szigeteki templom elleni kettős robbantáshoz, amelyben több mint húszan haltak meg 2019 elején.

A hagyományosan rendkívül egyházellenesnek számító chilei radikális baloldal látványosan megsemmisített egy katolikus templomot. Ezt követően az aktivisták ünnepelték a barbár cselekedetüket. Az esetről készült felvételek általános megdöbbenést keltettek.
Vasárnap, Chile fővárosában, Santiago de Chilében különböző radikális baloldali csoportosulások (Antifa, Kommunista Párt) rendeztek erőszakos tüntetést Sebastián Piñera jelenleg pártfüggetlen, de jobboldali beállítottságú köztársasági elnök és kormánya reformjai ellen.
Chilében a baloldal függetlenül attól, hogy most éppen szocialistának, kommunistának vagy csak egyszerűen antifasisztának vallja magát, még mindig hősként tekint a katolikusokat elnyomó, a papokat és az ellenzékieket megkínzó, a Szovjetunió elkötelezett hívének számító Salvador Allende „elnökre” (akit 1973-ban amerikai segítséggel megbuktattak), ezért a radikálisok „temperamentumát” ennek tükrében kell értelmezni.
A tüntetésből zavargás lett, a vandálok pedig felgyújtották a Santiago egyik legjelentősebb sugárútján, az Avenida Vicuña Mackenna-n álló, Parroquia de la Asunción nevű katolikus templomot. Az 1876-ban átadott templom tornya leomlott, majd megsemmisült a teljes épület. Azt, hogy leégett a templom, valósággal ünnepelte a radikális baloldal.
A tűzről készült videók a világon mindenhova eljutottak, a katolikusok pedig felháborodtak.
