Az elmúlt években a Beludzsisztáni Felszabadítási Hadsereg számos merényletet hajtott végre kínai állampolgárok és pakisztáni tisztviselők ellen Pakisztánban.
Két kínai állampolgár meghalt és legalább tíz ember megsérült a pakisztáni Karacsiban, a Dzsinnah nemzetközi repülőtér közelében történt robbanás következtében. A terroristák egy kínai mérnökökből álló konvojt vettek célba, akik egy energetikai projekten dolgoztak a dél-ázsiai országban.
Az akciót a Beludzsisztáni Felszabadítási Hadsereg (BLA) vállalta magára: a csoport szerint egy öngyilkos merénylő egy járművön elhelyezett bombát hozott működésbe. Az elmúlt években a BLA számos merényletet hajtott végre kínai állampolgárok és pakisztáni tisztviselők ellen.
Például 2022 áprilisban a csoport három kínai oktatót és egy pakisztáni sofőrt ölt meg egy öngyilkos merényletben a Karacsi Egyetem Konfuciusz Intézetének közelében, míg 2018 novemberében négy emberrel végeztek a karacsi kínai konzulátus elleni támadásban.
Idén márciusban egy pakisztáni haditengerészeti bázist vettek célba Gvádar közelében, majd augusztusban az elmúlt évek legnagyobb akcióját hajtották végre: a terroristák koordinált támadásaik során rendőrőrsöket, vasútvonalakat és országutakon közlekedő járműveket támadtak meg Beludzsisztánban, legalább 39 embert megölve.
A BBC emlékeztet: jelenleg több ezer kínai munkavállaló tartózkodik Pakisztánban, akik főleg az Új selyemút projektjeiben dolgoznak. Peking üzemelteti a stratégiai fontosságú Gvádar mélyvízi kikötőt Beludzsisztán déli részén, valamint egy arany- és rézbányát nyugaton.
Beludzsisztán Iránnal és Afganisztánnal is határos, méretét tekintve Pakisztán legnagyobb, de leggyérebben lakott tartománya, és továbbra is nagymértékben elmaradott, nagyfokú szegénység jellemzi. A régió függetlenségéért régóta folytatnak harcot a szeparatisták.
